Why the bad reviews?? Truly a red tone eliminator
*I already had medium-dark (leaning more dark but nowhere near black) hair that was previously dyed several weeks before using this product* My hair was washed and dried from the day, but once the Amazon package arrived I re-wet it with a spray bottle and applied the product. I was generous but my hair wasn't dripping with product. Tried to apply an even coat on primarily the top layers of hair (where it fades the fastest). My hair pulls warm, so I had a considerable amount of red tones showing. I let the product sit for 30min, yes, thirty whole minutes. I rinsed (no shampoo or other conditioner to follow) and dried/styled my hair with my usual routine. When I say this stuff nearly eliminated all the brassy & red tones, I mean it with my full chest. After drying my hair I looked at it in natural lighting and this stuff worked pretty darn great after 1 application. The steep price is worth it to me. I have yet to see how it fades over time, but the instructions say to not wash your hair for at least 48hrs after application, so I have hopes it will survive a few showers afterwards. I plan on using this again once a hint of red/brassy tones start showing again, but since I used the product at peak brass, I'm convinced it'll take care of it on an "as needed" basis. Things to note: •The product bottle is rather small, which is unfortunate. •You must wear gloves when applying this, it will stain your skin. •The green shade specifically will slightly darken your hair!! **If you don't want a darker result, do not use this, as the shade I purchased is specifically for darker brunettes. (I like a slightly dark neutral hair, so this works well for me)** •If you are a religious daily hair washer, maybe skip this, as you must be able to go at least 2-3 days between washes post-application for optimal performance. •For the love of everything good, LET IT SIT FOR MORE THAN 20min ~ I stand by my method of 30min.

Will change highlights (even caramel brown ones) BLUE and GREEN.
Let this be the most major warning to anyone with color treated hair. This may be obvious to some but it wasn't to me. I had old highlights in my hair. Just a few around my face and in the back from an old balayage from a year ago- and they weren't blond they were a caramel brown. While this worked for the rest of my hair, it turned my old highlights BLUE and GREEN. Wish I had taken a photo before running and begging someone to fix it. Anyway- this is your official warning. Do not, under any circumstances, use this if you have or have had any highlights in the past. My highlights were NOT blond to start, rather a caramel brown. I ended up with blue and green all over.

Brunettes with highlights - BUY THIS!
Wow this stuff is amazing! I get balayage regularly but have red undertones, my blonde always gets brassy and dull. I used this for the first time and am in shock how beautifully bright my highlights look. I used it in the shower and kept it on for 5 minutes. Its a good thick consistency not much of a scent but the pigment is strong and it will stain your skin so definitely wear gloves. Im obsessed and will never use another kind of home toner or blue shampoo! 10/10 5 stars+

Messy, Not Sure About Results
I have mixed feelings about this toning conditioner. The scent is absolutely fantastic, but it is messy to apply and rinse out. It says the formula is green, but it washed out of my hair looking purple, which I thought was interesting. It also very easily stains. I did wear gloves, so my hands were ok, but a few splashes of the solution got onto my fiberglass shower wall, and despite me cleaning it off quickly, it still left small stained marks. I may be able to use a magic eraser, but be aware that even brief contact can cause staining. I didn’t really notice any improvement in my hair upon first use, but this may be something that needs repeated washings to see a result. Verdict is still out.

Doesn’t last, stains everything else
Works a little bit to tone-down reddish hues, but it doesn’t last more than a few washes. The solution was too thick for the pump, making it very messy to use. Considering the cost and stain risk (stains walks and countertops), it doesn’t seem worth it.

Worth it!!!!
So I literally had the WORSE experience in February when a hair salon dyed my hair a horrible red/orange color- despite the salon repairing it, and me having to dye it twice more, then going to a different hairdresser to have it professionally done, the orange/red just keeps coming back- I bought this and used it tonight and WOW! I will continue to use it until the bad color grows out!

Do NOT use
For the love of all that is holy, do NOT use this if you have even the SLIGHTEST amount of yellow/blonde/caramel. It will turn it green or blue! It toned the red down, but now I have a few greenish colored strands where there was some fading from a caramel color.

Darkened my hair a bit, but didn’t seem to get rid of the red undertone like I was hoping for. Maybe worked a tiny bit.

Not for red tones. The toner turns purple when it oxidizes, very quickly i might add. To rid red tones you need green. Purple is to remove yellow. So this did absolutely nothing for my hair. It makes it soft for sure but doesn't tone red but is advertised as a green toner. So false advertising.
