I was not expecting the twist at the end...actually, this whole book was so twisted in the best way. I'm legit speechless! I am going to need to process everything I just read because this book makes you think you know what's gonna happen, then it shakes up the jar and makes you second guess. The plot is plotting and the spice is SPICING. What To Expect: 👿 Prison Penpal 🧠 Psychological Thriller Twists 🔪 Serial Killer(s)? 🌶 He's a Masochist 🤥 Unreliable Narrators Review: Tread so so so so not lightly - Okay before you buy this book. I need it to be very clear. This is DARK, DETAILED, NO RESTRICTIONS, ALL BETS OFF, PITCH BLACK, SICK AND TWISTED. If you have any concerns or patterns where you watch something scary and it sticks with you for awhile and it bothers you or keeps you up at night - please do not read this. I DNF’d the duet book myself - it was took much to read in my own opinion. That being said - the writing is magnificent. The depth of internal destruction and resurrection of both characters alone and with each other is absolutely stunning. It’s heartbreaking, it’s revolting in some pages, it’s so beyond detailed. The books are absolutely written exactly as they were meant. Please be warned by that. I personally could not finish these stories but they’re incredible.

Slow start, but well worth it
Honest review... It took me a while to get into the story. I contemplated quitting around chapter 20, but I'm so glad I powered through. This book snatched my soul out of nowhere and held me captive. I would 100% recommend for a good read. Take the reader discretion warnings very seriously, this is not for those easily triggered.

Long-winded but still a good book
I spent the first half of the book unsure if Xero was dead, which slowed me down along with the mind games. Once I got confirmation, everything became easier to read. Xero is definitely a psychopath. The first half of the book felt unhinged and unjustified. While Amethyst was wrong to profit from him even though she did ask him, his tormenting her and mocking her mental illness was off-putting. He apologized quickly, but I wish there had been more groveling. He loved her deeply and confessed repeatedly, understanding her inability to fully reciprocate due to her past. He never shamed or gaslighted her, and while he didn’t give her a choice to leave, he respected her words and allowed her to love him in her way, which was nice since she really didn't have a choice regarding her own life because her mom controls everything. Xero's love for Amethyst is evident, even if she turns out to be a schizophrenic psychopath. I believe he would break her out of a mental asylum go stay in the asylum with her so they could live together in bliss, embracing her delusions. The main issue is that 85% of this book could have been resolved if the characters had communicated properly from the very beginning, that's why the book was so long because it just keep repeating the same stuff which was frustrating. This isn't just a simple miscommunication; it's quite immature.Aso him being an assassinge should have better communication and listening skills. Amethyst also fails to communicate and just reacts impulsively, which could have been avoided with a simple question. I understand her trust issues and mental illness, but she needs to refrain from jumping to conclusions, especially when her reality often feels skewed. Yet, these flaws in characters are part of the story, so I can let it go.

This one will push all your boundaries
This book isn’t just a love story; it’s a psychological war. Amethyst is drawn to Xero because maybe, just maybe he reflects her own darkness, but he also weaponizes those desires against her. Their bond is erotic, violent &unsettling. If you love morally black characters and emotional chaos, this book doesn’t just toe the line—it dances on it. It is a descent into obsession, madness, and the blurred line between reality and hallucinations. I Will Break You is about Amethyst, who is being haunted by her executed prison pen pal, Xero, a serial killer who may or may not be dead. As her grip on reality slips, she’s stalked, seduced, and psychologically tormented in ways that are so disturbing they are addictive. Check the trigger warnings because this is not a beginner’s dark romance. It’s intense, graphic, and emotionally chaotic. And I am here for all of it!!! TW's include Stalking Obsession Gore Sexual humiliation Mental Illness Psychiatric abuse ECT/Intuitional trauma Gaslighting Childhood abuse/memory suppression

This book pulled me in and kept me there until the very end. I plunged off that cliff to my untimely demise. I wanted to throw and kick and scream at the end. I’m so glad the second book is already out because I NEED to know what happens next. I Will Break You by Gigi Styx will throw you around the twists and turns of the story. I had to back track several times to make sure I read it correctly. Turns out I did. It did take me a while to wrap my head around what was going on. But once you figure it out you are set on a wild trip. The book, also, clarifies what's going on the more you read it. So don’t give up if it’s not making sense. YOU WILL GET CLARITY!

SPICYYYYYY
I really enjoyed I Will Break You! The spice level was top tier! Easily one of my favorite books, 10/10 recommend. I really liked that both of the characters had substantial, layered backstories that unfolded throughout the story, which kept me hooked from start to finish. I love that their pasts weren't just told to us once and forgotten; they continued to shape how they interacted and grew together the whole way through. There was a nice balance of heat, heart, and tension that made this a super fun and addictive read. One idea recommended if you're into a real spicy romance with real emotional depth.
