WOW IT WORKS REALLY WELL
I put this MSD ignition box on my 1993 f-150 short wheel base cingle cab truck with a 1988 5.0 H.O. Mustang GT motor , gasket matched port and polished stock e7 heads and the truck intake, 'wich is almost twice the size of the gt' , 2 1/2 inch duel exhaust with flowmasters, no H pipe yet ,stock gt shorty headers and the part of the the smog pump that flows fresh air into the heads hooked up , have the MSD Super Conductor wires , rotor cap and the MSD Blaster coil . Right now im running Bosch Super Copper plugs and have opened the gap to .o65in adjusted the timing a little and im getting a consistant 3 to 4 miles a gallon ,'on the hiway' better than before without the ignition box and it smoothed out the rough cold starts in the mornings too. This is a great product for my weak stock ford ignition really tied it all together . It really made the gas peddle stiffen up and much more responsive and now i have to relearn how much peddle to give it when the light turns green , i try to baby the tires , but now i keep wanting to goose it a little to feel that power i was missing . People who cant tell a difference need to make sure they have the right plug wires and a properly functioning coil , good spark plugs and the correct setting on your timing, if not the the spark cant get to the plugs ,it grounds out somewhere along the line , you can see this by turning out all the lights around you and waiting for your eyes to adjust and if your plug wires are old or the wrong ones then you will see a fire works show. This is my first after market ignition box, never needed one before the newer cars and trucks have much better stock ignitions now than in 1993. Hope this was helpfull.

Working perfectly in my boat for 8 years now
I added this to my 1989 Mercruiser Alpha One 130HP engine in 2017. It immediately cured a hard starting problem and eliminated maintenance on my distributor ignition points, which now only need a yearly gap check and a bit of lube. This unit delivers a fierce spark to the plugs using the stock coil. It gives 3 sparks per cylinder instead of one. My engine is old and some oil gets past the rings onto the plugs. This used to cause mis-fires. Not any more. The engine starts immediately and purrs like a contented cat.

Don't buy doesn't last, wast of money
Complete trash. Shame on msd for putting their name on such a piece of junk. It worked good for starting in the driveway for 2 days, first trip out it worked fine on my second trip it shut off and won't power back up. Totally left me stranded and only has a 30 day warranty. I bought it 3 mouths ago just got my project far enough to test drive, now I'm in search of a new ignition. Very disappointed and want a waste of money. Never again

Street Fire ignition box.1
Except for the smaller size of the Street Fire ignition box, it does everything that my pro comp unit did. Its very comparable to the older MSD 6 AL. I installed the new Street Fire in my 69 Bronco 1/2 cab. Works great with the MSD billet aluminum distributor. Original #'s matching 302 w/130k original miles. Bored .030 over w/Edelbrock performer plus cam, Weiand dual plane aluminum manifold, 4.56 gears, 35" tires, locker and a 5 spd. Wild Horses 5" all spring lift, dual shocks at all 4 corners. Fun little ride. Need to upgrade the steering.

Works for only 3 months ... do not buy
Update 12/9/2021 (Back to 4 stars) The unit is still working today 3 years later. 25,000 hard miles on the classic. Causes of the dead ignition 1. Don't put it near EMF generating devices 2. MSD has a retarding effect. When running the unit the timing would be reduced by 3 degrees or so due to latency of the trigger signal. Simple fix advance it ever so slighlty to compensate for the signal delay. 3. Mask the wires you clip make sure they cannot ever touch. I had the unit inspected and all was good except for the above. Update: 9/14/19 (2stars) The unit failed one year later out of warranty in the middle of an intersection. But the unit already showed signs of failure months before. After 3 months of use, the unit would cause all sorts of problems, namely misfires across the rev range and heavily misfired at higher rpms. I was sure the "trusty" msd wasnt the issue. However, when it failed today I rewired my old ingition and all of a sudden the car ran perfectly. So basically the unit had already failed after 3months. It failed right as the warranty ran out, smart msd...but not smart. So far, after a few hundred miles on highways and around town. It was installed on a 1973 240z with some 40DCOE carbs. Cold starting is a lot better with the MSD. However, I cannot have the car idle very low with all the accessories on, there is too much of a voltage drop and the MSD has trouble. Also the wires for the box are very short and not accustomed to anything other than an american V8, so for my engine I needed to extend the wires to reach the coils and dizzy. Besides all that the ignition box wiring instructions need to be followed word for word other wise the system won't work. Also works great with my Autometer tach. But so far so good! the car runs great, less fumes, better gas mileage, and low end response is great too.

6AL's little brother
This is the little brother of the 6-series MSD ignition boxes. It is a bit smaller in size and black in color. It is much easier to hide from view on a classic vehicle than those popping red shoeboxes for the big applications. This one has a rev limiter and does its work fine. Installation is like the bigger boxes from MSD. The box is considerably cheaper than the red boxes. One of the differences is a slightly lower spark energy output. The box is aimed at guys that don't race, but want a strong ignition spar on the public road.

I am very happy with the results
Installed on a 75K mile Chevy 307 in my stock '72 Nova, 3 sp on the column. I am very happy with the results. The engine runs very smooth at idle and throttle response is a hoot. Gas mileage seems better but who cares. The exhaust note has changed out of my mandrel bent 2.75 dia pipes, with a solid rumble on deceleration. Before it popped quite a bit, and might have been from unburned fuel. The revlimiter works! Next step is to open up the plug gaps and see how far that spark will jump. Install was straighforward. Happy Camper!

I had gone through 3 factories icm and they kept burning out and getting us stuck places I installed the street fire no more problem, also if I want to change my v6 to a v8 just need to change a pin on the side and it’s done, great product

I bought this to replace an old Mallory unit that failed. It's not idiot-proof to install, but not too tricky. It has very similar wiring to my old Mallory- the wires have the same functions but use different colours. I had to adjust my timing (approx. 7 degrees different initial to the Mallory!) then it worked great. The multi-spark at low rpms is amazing, my car has a tuned 360 Chrysler with a very lumpy cam and it's much easier to drive now. It starts instantly, warm-up and idle are much smoother. It pulls away more cleanly- It often would stumble but now not at all. Mid-high running is no better, but the Mallory was great at that so I wasn't expecting any improvement.
