Good looks, user-friendly controls
I replaced a similar Magic Chef microwave that I'd used for many years with this just-slightly-larger new version. Just like my old one, the controls are easy to understand and use, and the inside is big enough for a large dinner plate or a casserole dish. The beautiful stainless steel finish with black trim fits perfectly in my kitchen. I don't hesitate to recommend this great appliance.

Dead in less than a year
So I had a previous Magic Chef microwave that I purchased in 2004 that had been working fine until 2017, then it kept blowing internal fuses after trying multiple fixes it looked like the magnetron failed. So I bought another newer model of that microwave, and it started to not heat things up correctly, it would take 8 minutes to heat up a frozen pizza, but at least it lasted 4 years. So like a fool I decided to give Magic Chef one more try and purchased this MCD1310ST in July 2021, which looked and was the same power level as my previous two. Sadly, I think that Magic Chef cannot make a microwave anymore. About five months ago if you were cooking something in it, you could hear it suddenly loose power see the light dim in the microwave, then come back. Sometimes in a 3 minute cooking cycle this would do that 5 or 6 times. I reached out to Magic Chef, they tell me to move it to different outlets, breakers etc. I did better than that I took it to a different home but guess what the same issue persisted. The support representative told me there was nothing they could do. So I went ahead and kept using it. Well things started to take longer to cook, so I decided to crack it open and take a look, test the capacitor and sure enough it is faulty. Reach back out to Magic Chef explaining that the thing is not even a year old and has a critical part that has failed. They say they will only cover it for 60 days. A 8 month lifespan is simply unacceptable for a Microwave. Looked online for the part and the capacitor is listed at $158.00. Well at that price I might as well get something different so I went to Home Depot and picked up a Panasonic microwave instead. It is sad as I really liked the full stainless steel shell and interior, the controls were nice, the handle was nice, the interior light was nice, but it didn't have the reliability that they had back in 2004, same design, cheaper components. Save your money and get something else. Perhaps Magic Chef will someday make a good microwave again and have helpful customer service, but as of right now it is lacking.

Good enough for the second time
This is the second microwave of this brand for us. in fact, it is exactly like one that was 10+ years old when it died. That should say it all. This one has some updated features or could it be that we didn't read all the owners' manual on the first one. We would advise anyone interested to buy it.

Poor quality
After about a year it quit working. I replaced the magnetron tube. Worked for about a year, just quit again. Pressing the number "4" on the key pad never worked.Cabinet was caved in on the top slightly right out of the box. My first microwave oven was a Sharp I purchase in 1973 (worked great for 43 years!). I had it all this time and it worked flawlessly. My wife wanted a NEW one so I put the Sharp on the curb and bought this Magic Chef. Should have kept the old Sharp. Probably still working fine for the person that picked it up! Bummer.

Great no fluff microwave
Not much on bells and whistles but top notch on sturdiness, ease of cleaning and no coldspot cooking/reheating. Solid unit at a great price.

Magic Chef 1.3 cf 1000 W
I am very satisfied with the microwave. It offers me the functions I was seeking in a microwave. It is a classy looking addition to our kitchen and works very well.
