New OCR Cambridge National in Sport Studies: Course Booklets Pack (with Online Edition) Review: These are exactly what I would expect from CGP. I was also pleased to see them printed on nice clear/bright paper: sometimes you never know until they/it turn/s up! Many, many moons ago I did study my PGCE and taught in schools/colleges. I enjoyed what I did but it wasn't for me long term - so my experience is limited. I did however, do a lot of research over many years in SPLDs and also having them myself. I have qualifications in fitness and have a good solid work history there. I like these books as they are good for reading around my subject: the clients I meet may play sports etc so it's good for me to know these other subjects. These books being a level 1/2 helps give me the core understanding and helps me link together information I may have gathered in a professional setting. For example I knew about autocratic and democratic leadership styles, but what the heck is Laissez-faire?! See what I mean? Now for my personal preferences: What I particularly like about these books is that they are coloured, each book is solely one colour so for me, easy on the eyes and the brain. There's nothing worse than a page screaming 'busy'. The colours (for me) aren't too strong that all you see (and think) is colour, I'm currently studying a popular accountancy qualification and their pages are so heavy purple you can barely read the words - not in this case. I like the way these books have different 'textures', so they have tables, line spaces, clouds to fill in. And I especially like how they have promps, so you might be given the first two letters of a word to help you out. 5/5, highly recommend. Review: The course booklets are set out in an easy-to-understand format, and are designed to be completed whilst studying the course. They come with a wealth of knowledge included in each booklet along with practice questions (with answers), A great feature I found was the discussion points which give facts, points or opinions to either research yourself, or discuss in a group setting. The five booklets cover a very comprehensive range of subjects, which provides great insight into the subjects that will be studied during the course. There are also actual assignments which can be completed. Of course, everything in the booklets is optional as they are designed as study material and not actual course work, but working through the booklets will give you a definite advantage over other students and increase your knowledge and skill set for a career in sports. There is a very useful glossary at the back of each booklet as well as learning activities and case studies. The booklets are slightly flimsy as they are just printed on reasonable quality paper, with no cover, they do crease and tear quite easily and can get a bit grubby after a few hours of writing (hence the loss of one star). But purchasing these also give you access to a complete online version, in case of an accidental coffee spill, or for those who just like to study online. I will admit that it is a lot of extra work if you planned to complete each booklet alongside participating in the actual course, but you can complete whatever you find useful, and disregard the rest, so win-win. If you want to be the best and be better than the rest, then these are well worth the investment.

One of the standout qualities of these booklets is their comprehensive coverage of the OCR Cambridge National in Sport Studies curriculum. The inclusion of an online edition further enhances the accessibility of the materials. The online resources offer a dynamic and interactive way to engage with the content, making the learning experience more engaging and enjoyable. I particularly appreciate the practice questions and quizzes included in these booklets. They serve as valuable self-assessment tools, allowing me to gauge my understanding of the material and identify areas where I need to focus more. This targeted approach to revision is invaluable in exam preparation. The inclusion of regular progress checks and "Apply It" sections within the booklets encourages active learning and practical application of the knowledge acquired. These meticulously crafted booklets cover both mandatory units and the optional Unit R186 (Sport and the media), ensuring that you have all the information you need to excel in your studies. There are a variety of learning styles evident throughout and each has a glossary. All key topics covered, everything on the syllabus exposed, and no areas left untouched. Great logical progression through the subjects, and many practice questions and activities which are always interesting and always engaging. I felt like some nuance was missing on the otherwise clear explanations, and real world examples could have been stronger. A valuable resource, and will give an absolutely rock solid foundation, top marks should not be far away with this combined with motivation.
