Photography is a good way to spend a lot of money. Cyrill Harnischmacher provides you with some ways to take good shots and not have to buy a lot of extra equipment. He writes well, is engaging and easy to understand.

When I opened my shipment from Amazon, I was a little disappointed when seeing this book. It's thin...But you shouldn't judge a book by looking at it's cover, right? The content of this book is interesting, and it's not unlikely that I will try out some of the projects shown. However, for amateurs like me, I don't feel I need such a great variety of equipment. And for pros, professional equipment is better. But for serious amateurs on a budget, this book is probably a good investment. And after all, it's probably the last group mentioned for which this book is intended. So if you want to build your own light tent, reflector, diffusor or soft box, go get it!

This book is a very visual guide to making your own low budget studio setup. Some genius ideas of building a light-box (or tent), softbox, etc. It's a small book so, if this kind of equipment is not what you need then this book is not for you.

Good information, good resource. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to get ideas on how they can improve their workflow.

Actually, I would rate this book at 4.5 stars (but that option was not available). For the money, this book has a wealth of information about setting up a professional-grade studio on a budget. I am in the process building my own studio for product photography (jewelery) and I've already started to acquire the materials recommended by the author. I'm also using his blueprints as the basis for my design. When completed, I believe that the studio will provide me with professional product photography capabilities at a fraction of the cost of buying it from a camera store.

I love how this book was written! The author has given me several ideas in which to make and create beautiful images. This book is a must have!
