This is an excellent quality leather. It's nice and dense, great color. That said, beware of choosing such heavy, thick leather for a belt - for the casual amateur craftsman, like me, it presents a lot of problems - punches with difficulty and the buckle you planned to use just doesn't fit. Now that I've learned my lessons, I'll try ELW's 8-9 oz version of this blank. That thickness is what I've normally used. For this one I will keep an eye out for a really heavy buckle that I can use with such thick leather. This would make a great tool belt or pistol belt, but I think it's too heavy for holding up your pants!

I'm a repeat ELW customer for a reason. Their leather is beautiful, rivals the more expensive brands *cough* Herman Oak *cough* without the cost. Takes oils and stains very well, cases easily and takes to carving very nicely. Their trimming technique is clean and straight. Love ELW products.

Upon opening the package, I found some imperfections in the strip I received. Not a big deal to me, but for someone who wants a perfect cut of leather, it could be. The one in the first picture I’d say the manufacturer is to blame for not scrapping that piece (I understand not wanting to waste material) and the second picture could be due to the fact that it was packaged in a plastic bag with no padding whatsoever. Other than that, the thickness is just what I was after for sheaths, and the width is perfect for the blades that I make so all I have to do is cut the shape I want and still have plenty of room on either side for stitches.

great man i need a new belt and ordered a bit thicker thin a needed just incase but it was just as i ordered so thick had to shave some down great seller great quolady

1 1/2 on one end and 1 1/4 on the other. I ordered two of them. This was for a quick order for a customer's Christmas gift. I normally buy sides from this company but they take weeks to get and I needed to fill this order quickly. Don't by this strap. I'm going to purchase my future hides from a different company for now on.

Sent the wrong size but they replaced.
