I recently picked up the official GoPro Performance Chest Mount to get some more immersive, first-person perspective footage with my GoPro, and I've been really happy with it. If you're looking for a reliable and comfortable way to capture hands-free POV shots, this is a solid choice.The first thing you notice is the quality of the materials and construction. Being an official GoPro mount, it feels durable and well-made. The straps are adjustable and comfortable, even during more active use. I've used it for hiking and some light outdoor activities, and it stayed securely in place without feeling too restrictive.Setting up the mount with my GoPro is quick and easy. The standard GoPro mounting interface means it's compatible with all GoPro cameras, which is a definite plus if you have multiple models or plan to upgrade in the future. Once secured, the camera feels stable, minimizing unwanted shaking in your footage.The perspective you get with the chest mount is fantastic. It provides a more natural, eye-level view compared to head mounts in many situations, making your videos more engaging and relatable. It's great for capturing activities where your head movement might be erratic, but your chest remains relatively stable.

In my own opinion chest mount works better than helmet mount for the vast majority of gopro applications. Chin mount might be better in a few cases, but it's hard to beat chest for both center of action and stability of image (no jerking the camera to look around you). This particular chest mount is steady and durable. I've been using mine for about 11 years and still going strong. I paid more for the gopro name brand, but in this case it's definitely worth it.

This chest harness is far better than any of the cheaper knockoffs I've tried. It fits well out of the box and is easily adjustable. The elasticity of the straps feels high-quality and durable. I also really like the chest plate. It's larger than the cheap ones and feels sturdy, keeping the camera in the proper position.

The GoPro Performance Chest Mount works exactly as advertised and has become an essential part of my setup, especially when I'm out fishing. It’s incredibly easy to use; attaching and detaching the camera is a breeze, and the mount itself is comfortable to wear for extended periods.One of the best features is how unobtrusive it feels while wearing it. Even though it’s positioned right on your chest, it doesn’t get in the way, allowing me to focus on fishing without worrying about the mount. It’s also not too bulky, making it simple to put on and take off whenever needed.The footage I’ve captured with this mount has been fantastic, providing a unique perspective that would be hard to achieve otherwise. I’ll definitely continue using it and will update this review in the future if anything changes.The only downside, if you can even call it that, is how it looks when worn. Personally, I felt a bit self-conscious about wearing it in public, especially since it’s quite obvious you’re recording. However, that’s more about my own insecurity rather than any fault of the product itself. If you can get over that, it’s an excellent piece of gear for capturing high-quality, hands-free footage.

I've used this harness for a number of outings at this point, and there honestly isn't much I can say about it negatively. I am on the bigger side and it was easy enough to adjust to my size (even if a little unflattering) and the only negative I can think of is that you do have to shimmy it on from above awkwardly. Once it's on, it feels sturdy and not overly uncomfortable and I have had no issues! With a Media Mod it gets a little awkward to access the USB port if you want to reflash the firmware and run it without a battery since the port ends up right against the back panel, but I was able to find a flat USB C cable to fix that issue as well.
