4711 by Muelhens Eau De Cologne for Unisex, 5.1 Ounce

A classic fragrance that is perfect for a quick refresher or an after shower scent. This is more suited for older folks in my opinion but if you like fragrances like Neroli Portofino then this is a safe buy. This is an EDC concentration so don’t expect much performance, but that’s not really what this is intended for. There’s a reason this is still made after all of these years, give it a shot if you like light fresh citrus/white floral fragrances.

Got this because Napoleon used it 👍🏻. It’s Not a deep musk, more like a refined middle, sharper smell that honestly “smells expensive”. Passably noticeable, but you don’t “walk into it”. I would absolutely say this is good for any age of man.

Try putting this on right out of the shower. It smells so crisp and clean then you can add your cologne afterwards

I really like this. My wife does not particularly. Everyone is saying citrus, orange, and woodsy scents. For me, the dominant note is floral and it is VERY honeysuckle. If you grew up around honeysuckle, you will recognize it. It's floral without being feminine. It it is fresh, bright, and fairly light. It strongly reminds me of a soap I can't quite put my finger on. It's more a quick refresh, splash-on then a lasting personal scent. I don't know how long I'll use it given that it doesn't do it for the wife (so what's the point?), but I'm happy to have tried it. Something intriguing trying the "original" cologne, and one of the oldest commercially made scents in the world.

Here's the story: I have tried shopping for men's colognes, for myself, a number of times. Usually, I can't stand the stuff. I have taken whiffs of designer colognes, at Macy's, no less. Not really impressed. Usually, smells the same to me, like a used car salesman, with slicked back hair, and a loud suit. Kind of heavy, too. In fact, no matter where I shopped, sales, discounts outlets, nope. I got a link in my FaceBook feed to this product. I've never noticed it in stores around here- maybe I have to look harder. So I bought a tiny bottle, blind, taking a chance, for $13.70, with the tax. If I didn't like it, I figured I'd use it for car air freshener. The moment I opened it up- wow! What a difference! This is way better than the overpriced junk they are pushing! Nice and fresh. Other stuff I feel would often clash with food aromas, for example. It's marketed as 'unisex.' Really, I think the usual designer 'men's' stuff smells more effeminate. 4711, is kind of neutral/attractive. By comparison, miles better than Old Spice, and lots nicer than Royal Copenhagen. One of the better things I've spent my hard-earned cash on!

4711 is a German Cologne and it has a very good aroma to me. This is my favorite cologne for many years.

I've been happily wearing this cologne all my adult life (I'm 73). And I don't mind that the scent doesn't last very long, a complaint of other buyers. It's easy to reapply it during the day if necessary. Most other men's colognes are so cloying and much too persistent. You can't wash off the smell; you apply it with your hands, then later you hold the steering wheel, and now the steering wheel smells from cologne. But the last few bottles of this that I bought have virtually no scent to them. The first time I assumed something happened to the bottle in shipping, maybe left in an un-air conditioned truck in summer heat or something. But the next bottles I bought also have almost no scent. It's almost like bottles of water. The spray version is a little better, not much; but a relative brought back a spray version from Germany where he bought it for me, and the scent is also weak and also very different from what I've been used to. Same style printed on the label. Something has gone very wrong with 4711. I wasted lots of money on three big bottles of this stuff, and now with greatest reluctance I must switch to some other cologne. I suspect the company is trying to save money by reducing the aroma-producing ingredients, but they just ruined a wonderful product.

The initial citrus scent is very pleasant and clean feeling. However, it lasts only a few minutes. I don’t like the smell of strong cologne but I like the initial fresh feeling so the fact that it disappears quickly is not a negative for me.

This is a very refreshing cologne, nice subtle fragrance, especially good for freshening up in summer.
