This does just about everything
This is a fantastic value. I was able to eliminate two flimsy hubs and daisy chain several SSDs, an external hard drive, connect a remote portable monitor without a hiccup. The best part, from my perspective, is that I am able to plug my Lunda Display dongle directly into the hub instead of the back of the iMac 27 inch (2020) and it works seamlessly. With every other hub or dock I've tried the Luna dongle will absolutely not work unless it is plugged into the computer directly. This is a game changer and allows for easy port expansion. There is no excessive heat from the hub. It works straight out of the box and the ability to daisy chain different sections makes disk storage super easy. I love it.

Happy with my purchase, best price to value ratio for getting another thunderbolt port on my macbook
The Hub works great, plug and play! Speed drop when having two Thunderbolt 4 NVME drives connected is around what's expected, getting ~1.4GB/s per drive still. The 60w power output to the computer is kinda meh, my 16" M1 Max Macbook Pro only keeps charge with it while I'm using it, sometimes even drains a couple percent. But when I take a break from using the computer, it actually charges, so it's good enough to not have to think about having a separate charger connected. Design also feels robust. I should have paid for the guaranteed faster shipping though because with the cheapest shipping it took around 2 months to arrive which is insane. Finally, for other Europeans: I can confirm the PSU that comes with this item supports 100-240v 50/60hz, so you can use it with a passive wall-socket adapter. You could also just buy a new power cord, it's the same cord as big PCs have IIRC (or the one that's similar, that monitors are using. Don't remember exactly and can't unplug it right now)

Powerful and Super Convenient!
The OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub is a game-changer for my workstation. The three Thunderbolt 5 ports are blazing fast, and the USB-A port adds extra versatility for older devices. I’m able to connect multiple high-speed drives and monitors with no lag or connectivity issues. The hub feels solid and well-built, and it keeps my setup clean and organized. Absolutely worth it if you need reliable, high-speed expansion for your Thunderbolt devices!

Great unit, poorly designed
Works well, but some imporvements to port locations and power supply would be good. For some reason the power supply port is on the front instead of the back, so it makes it a bit awkward to use on the desktop. If it was on the back, it would be perfect. It really makes no sense. Speedy transfers though and plenty of ports.

Amazon Customer Service - A+ Poor service from OWC!!
These work great, they DO go on sale for significantly less so keep an eye out ( $30-ish less ). Special thanks to Amazon who honored a sale price on their own stock of this OWC item. I made my original purchase on Amazon, from OWC’s Amazon site, during a sale price timeframe but due to the holiday rush, OWC ran out of stock in their Amazon store before fulfilling my order. 6 weeks later, after watching stock return ( at the higher / regular price ) and then fully run out, two additional times, without fulfilling my order. Amazon’s system requires a vendor to “approve” fulfillment of items that are on time bound sale prices once the promotional price period has passed. OWC never approved fulfillment / shipment of my order ( I verified on 3 different calls to Amazon customer support who indicated that it was still awaiting OWC’s approval to fulfill my order ). I’m very disappointed in OWC, even with screen shot proof, dated photos ( including a copy of my original Amazon purchase receipt ) and other poignant proof of a price that they ran on Amazon when they ran out of stock, they still would not honor their price I had paid for and left my order in an indefinite “pending” status for more than a month and a half. I called and spoke with their direct Customer Service team, explained the situation and they said that there was nothing they could do and that they would not be able to honor their own price that they offered on Amazon. This will likely be my last purchase of OWC products. While I like the products, I own several of them, their integrity and lack of customer service has soured my opinion of them. They would rather lose a customer than resolve a $30-$40 price adjustment to honor their own price.

This is beautiful
An incredible piece of hardware. This thing is honestly ridiculous (in the best way). I grabbed it for myself as a Christmas gift partly because I actually need it for work, and partly because there’s still a little geek in me that gets excited about great hardware. I’ve come to really trust OWC over time. Their stuff just… works. And this setup feels like the clean, grown-up version of my desk: MacBook Pro 16” (M4 Max) → OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub → and then whatever I need that day: YubiKey, OWC Express 1M2, drives, peripherals. One cable. That’s the magic. Plug it in and I get everything. Fast storage. Accessories. Power. The whole desk wakes up. Even charging is handled perfectly especially with AlDente Pro keeping the battery sane. For heavy dev work and big data, this feels like turning a laptop into a real workstation without the usual mess. It’s powerful, quiet, and kind of beautiful to look at. That matters more than people admit. Anyway if you’re even considering it, just get it. It’s one of those “why didn’t I do this sooner?” purchases.

Reliable, great build quality
OWC is my go-to for Mac accessories, as I find the quality to be well above that of other brands. This is a great, small Thunderbolt 4 hub at less half the price of most competitors. There are only three TB ports and a single USB A port, but it's perfect if you don't need more than that. I have two of their larger TB 3 hubs for my Mac Studio, but use thhis one to connect my MacBook Air M4 to a Dell Ultrasharp 34" monitor when I want to dock it to an external monitor, which still leaves me two TB ports and the USB-A port, enough for what I use my laptop for.

1,000 MB/s drop in writing speed through Hub, It this Normal?
So far, I’m not as impressed with this OWC product as I usually am. They are generally good products, but the throughput for this one is lacking. Everything connects properly, but the speed is disappointing. Seems like a burdensome speed penalty. While I’m not entirely sure what to expect with this Hub, it’s concerning that the writing speed drops ~2854 MB/s from when it’s when connected directly to the MacBook Air to ~1,808 MB/s when connected through the OWC ThunderBlot-4 Hub. I’ll do more testing as time allows and adjust the rating accordingly. Here’s the AJA speed testing data, which is similar to the Blackmagic speed data. Direct connect = 2854/3045 OWC Hub connect = 1808/2789 ADDITIONAL AI Researched data...updated 11/7/2025 13:40hrs INCREASED Rating from 3 to 5 stars...As OWC is performing above average for a Thunderbolt Hub... --- Write Speeds: Some Thunderbolt 3 and 4 SSDs may experience a more significant reduction in write speeds when connected via a hub (e.g., dropping from 2.1 GB/s to 1.5 GB/s or even lower), while their read speeds remain largely unaffected. This behavior can vary unpredictably depending on the specific SSD and hub combination.
