SAVES LIVES on our farm where we frequently rescue sick kittens
Because of our rural location people frequently dump cats near us where often the pregnant momma kitties make their way to our farm to have their kittens. Because of our unique setup with an auto feeder loaded with premium kitty food, the momma cats usually move their kittens to our enclosed catio when it's time to teach their babies to eat solid food thereby making it easier to catch and tame their Littles. Often there's one or more runts or sick kittens in most litters so we keep a fresh unopened tube of this Under the Weather on hand especially during Kitten Season. We've found almost every kitten has found this tasty treat absolutely delightful - after a small dab on the lips, they then willingly lick or nibble off a small squeeze until their tummies are full. By the 2nd or 3rd time they've had Under the Weather they regard us as safe creatures and no longer run allowing us to readily pick them up, they actually seem to look forward to getting this nutrient booster as a well deserved treat. If there's a really sick kitten we put a small amount of this Under the Weather and extra vitamin B1 thiamine in a bit of red cap whole milk, syringe feeding if they're too weak to drink themselves. If they have a bit of gunky eye we also add a dab of l-lysine powder. When they're 4 weeks of age we also treat with Baycox ie toltrazuril 10% then we repeat the toltrazuril 10 days later, especially if they've had diarrhea at all. Using this as our farm kitty rescue "protocol" we now save nearly 100% of the kittens who we can get our hands on. We re-home as many as possible, the rest are fixed and remain in our farm cat colony. We've been using Under The Weather for several years now - EVERY tube has been top quality and has definitely been vital in our effort to save lives; even kittens our vet was convinced no way would survive let alone thrive are now healthy active stout 12-15 pound farm cats. We have one cat who initially was a sick baby no one thought he'd survive, he was doing great until a farm accident, now as a tripod he's once again a strong agile kitty who readily scales trees and hay bales with only 3 legs. Everyone is amazed at his mobility and his vibrant health - again, Under the Weather definitively made the difference in his life, both as a kitten and as an adult recovering from a nasty infection developed within his deep lacerations prior to him literally dragging himself home for amputation surgery. ALL rescues, rehabs and farms should keep Under the Weather on hand to use for the sick or weak furballs. I'd give far more than 5 stars if possible, cannot recommend enough!

Helped save my cat.
Helped save my cat that was sick and not eating. My elderly cat was not eating and larthargic. She would not eat her favorite food and just lay down all day. She needed something in her sysytem so i ordered this. She would not eat it so i put a dab on my finger and put some on her nose and side of her mouth. She slowly licked it off. Was a little messy but it got some vitamins and nutrients in her till i was able to get her to a vet. She slowly got better and started eating normally again. She now loves this nutrient paste and gets excited when i grab the tube. Highly recommend.

Works wonders!
This product works well. My tortie baby is 11-12 and goes through periods of constant vomiting. Once she starts, there’s no way back except meds. However, sometimes meds aren’t available or the vet has to wait. Or, in her case, I know it’s not emergent after going to the vet so many times and just knowing her body/stomach aren’t having it. After days and days of not keeping food down and being severely stressed as a pet owner, this paste healed my cat and my stress. She wouldn’t throw up on this paste and little by little, it allowed her to keep food down. Highly recommend this stuff for cats that need an extra boost and some calories.

Helped our not eating cat
Yeah, forget the directions to dab a little on a paw and let the cat lick it off. My cat was horrified at being smudged. She wouldn’t lick it off a plate either. I didn’t like taking a glob and shoving it into her mouth, and you should’ve seen her incredibly unhappy and disgusted face the one time I did. I got this to increase the calories my cat took in during a time she was too sick to eat well or enough. On that count, it’s fine and does offer calories and some nutrients. The issue is getting it into your cat. This stuff is thick- you can’t syringe it in, and it doesn’t mix into food easily. What I ended up doing was putting a teaspoon of this and a teaspoon and a half of baby food in a tiny container and microwaving it 8 seconds. Then I could stir it all together, let it cool and syringe feed it. All the high calorie gels have questionable ingredients that you probably wouldn’t want to give your cat long term but this stuff *did* help keep weight on my cat til she recovered sufficiently to eat more on her own. At the same time I used this, I also tried the Tomlyn brand. I prefer that one - it’s far easier to get out of the tube and (after heating with some baby food) it mixed better. It’s also less expensive and not in a big inconvenient container like Under the Weather. I also tried Richard’s Organics which was thicker than the Tomlyn or Under the Weather. It was the hardest to squeeze out of the tube and more difficult to mix in. I’m definitely not a veterinarian but as a consumer I’d suggest that any high calorie gel is probably not enough to keep your cat going, even if you follow the directions. It certainly won’t fill an empty belly (which must be uncomfortable) or keep them eliminating regularly. Not eating can become habitual so stop it fast. What we did for our 8 pound cat: Got some of the Gerber (meat only) “2nd foods” for “sitters” (on the label). They have: Turkey Chicken Ham Beef Read labels. In most other brands, the calories are lower per jar. You can also easily heat, mix and syringe with Hill’s A/D diet as it’s liquidy and nutritious. You need a prescription for this food from your vet. Even mixing a teaspoon of the gel with 1 1/2 teaspoons of food, you end up with a bunch of syringes of food. You look at it all and wonder how you can possibly get it into your pet, so many little syringes. Hey, it’s your pet’s life. Get someone to help if you can. Wrap that baby up in a towel or blanket like a burrito. Put the burrito on a towel or sheet you don’t care about to catch any droppings. Gently lift the side of the lip and get the food in there 1 ml at a time. Chase with some water syringes at the end. It’s not fun but it may keep your pet alive. We’ve done this twice a day now for 10 weeks. Our girl is just now starting to get back to more regular eating and moving around again. Worth it? Definitely. This is NOT intended as veterinary advice. If you have a vet who’ll give you feeding guidelines, follow that advice. Our cat had 2 different vets (regular vet and internal medicine specialist) and neither one had any ideas. I’m just saying what we came up with and apparently worked. Best wishes to you with your pet.

Best calorie supplement. Dog loves it!
This stuff really helped when our Wheaton was under the weather, stopped eating for 5 days, and started losing weight. Great flavor and easy to administer. This stuffs a game changer!

This has helped keep my elderly cat going and the push-up tube is great for administration.
I have an elderly cat that refuses most wet food I offer him but he loves this stuff. I was worried about him keeping weight on and getting his nutrients with the small amount he was eating. I think I'm on my 4th tube of this. I offer it to him several times throughout the day, and he seems to know to ask for it when he walks into the kitchen. I tried measuring at first but gave up on that. I just let him lick little bits out of the tube as he wants them. I just push a tiny bit up and if he licks it off, I push a little more up. When he's had enough, he walks away. Giving it this way, the tube lasts for a long time. Trying to put vitamin gel in his mouth or spread it on his feet for him to lick off was always a mess and I never knew if he licked it all or if he flicked it somewhere because he would run away after I smeared it on his foot. The push up tube has solved that problem. I feel like this has helped keep him going.

Upset my dog's stomach, and leaked everywhere.
I can't speak of the weight gaining properties of this stuff, but I do know it's mostly sugar. From what I can tell it looks like some sort of molasses, probably enriched with vitamins. I personally didn't think it had a lot of vitamin levels in it, but I also don't know the dosage that animals need. My dog has always been a picky eater, and has been just above underweight for some time. Now that my mom (his previous owner) died, he's gotten skinnier. The few things he will eat, he doesn't eat enough. I figured I'd try this as a trial run to see if he'd gain any weight. I only got it yesterday so I don't know yet if it will cause him to gain weight. He does not like the flavor! I'm not surprised considering how picky he is, but I also don't blame him. It looks unappealing to me. The fat dog of the family (they eat separately btw) seems to want to try and I'm sure she'd love it. So I imagine a less picky pet would enjoy this? The servings of this stuff is pretty big for my Chihuahua, at one teaspoon. The instructions call for two teaspoons for dogs who don't eat enough, but I wasn't going to force my pup to eat that much. In order to get it in him I had to hold him firmly (but gently) and scoop it into his mouth. It might be easier if I had a smaller syringe to use but the tube it comes in is far too big to stick in a little dog's mouth; it also dispenses too much at a time for a little dog unless they love the stuff. In addition, I'm not sure if it's correlation or causation, but within an hour of eating the stuff for the first time my dog had diarrhea. He's got a sensitive stomach, but I'm cautious about the product now. I gave him another dose today in the hopes of getting his stomach used to it, but I am worried it will continue to upset his stomach. He hasn't eaten his regular dinner yet, so I hope this product isn't doing more harm than good. As for the packaging. It's a good concept, but it ended up being messy for me. I accidentally took the plunger from the tube, which seemed convenient at first since it allowed me to put product back into the tube as needed. Only when I put the plunger back in the product began oozing out of the top and wouldn't stop! It made a big mess. I ended up squeezing the tube into a bowl and discarding the tube. I really wanted to like the product but I'm not sure I'll buy it again unless my dog learns to love it, doesn't get an upset stomach, and gains weight.

This saved my baby's life
Absolutely amazing product, my cat hasn't eaten or drank anything in 2 days and she was looking BAD. I was about to take her back to the vet when they opened at 7am but this was delivered at midnight so we gave her a dose (watered it down with warm water for easier dosage in a syringe into the mouth), sure she didn't like it but she immediately perked up and got enough energy to walk around! It's been almost 30-35 hours since she's had a dose and she's doing WORLD'S better. This and her prescription are working amazing for her. I'll 100% be buying this again if my baby's are ever sick and recommending this to friends <3 my vet said she loved that I bought this and was very pleased it worked for her.
