Tuff Enough
Great purchase for a beginner, plenty of online videos to follow. I have never touched a sewing machine in my life, too intimidating. It is sturdy but light enough to move around. The stitching options are more than enough for a beginner. It runs smoothly, no snagging.

Great machine for general use
I mostly do things like jeans repair and the occasional hem or small clothing project. This is a nice, simple machine that does everything I need to do without being overly complex or temperamental. The pedal is easy to use and allows you to go really slow or really fast, depending on your project. When I first got it, putting the bobbin in place was a bit of a challenge but they have good instructional videos and one tip is to use a very different color bobbin from your main thread so you can see it easily when loading a new bobbin. The only thing I would wish for is a bit longer machine arm/sewing surface when you remove the base extension. It can be hard to get all the way up a pant leg without having to lift the machine a bit. I think this is a pretty standard challenge in all machines except the more expensive or specialized ones. I would recommend this machine and feel like it was a great value for the money- I've already paid for it by salvaging 3 pairs of jeans that I don't have to replace.

Loving my sewing journey on this machine
I have been designing clothes for some time... but couldn't sew on a machine! Not good. I bought this machine to encourage myself to finally learn how to sew and I am doing it! It is a straight forward, non-complicated machine that comes with quick instructions and more detailed instructions and pictures.Using these careful instructions, I have been able to figure out how to wind and install a bobbin and how to loop the thread from the holder on top around and round various parts of the machine and through the needle; which prior to my experience with this machine, always seemed like playing a game of "mouse trap" with no instructions. Super happy I bought this and I highly recommend it.Go on the Janome website and search for what additional presser feet you can order that go with this model! I got myself an overedge foot and am now doing professional-looking seams!

Easy to Use, Good Value.
I have sewn some 50 years. I have owned a number of different brands of sewing machines. I do not sew as much as I used to. I bought this machine for my 10 year granddaughter and liked it so much that I bourgh one for myself. It pretty much can do what the average sewer needs. The instructions are easy to understand. The dials are uncomplicated. Filling a bobbin is so easy. I really don't need much more at this part of my life than, straight stich & zig zag although it has more than that. It is marketed as a "beginner sewing machine. 10 was a little young for my granddaughter but I knew I would be working with her. I really love this machine. The price I felt was very good for the quality of the machine.

Lightweight at 12 pounds
Janome has been a favorite brand of sewing machine for years, but if you are used to a more modern, computerized machine, this might be a disappointment. However, if you are a veteran of electric machines, you will like this one as it performs well, as promised. It is well-made.

Best sewing machine ever
Everything about this machine is perfect. I am very pleased. I use my Janome for a few hours every single day and it is a real workhorse.

exactly right
My main expensive sewing machine only has a straight stitch. I needed just a small machine for periodic zig zag, button holes, free arm, etc. This small inexpensive machine fits the bill and is such a fun color. Sews smoothly with very nice regular stitches.

5 layers of canvas!
This thing is a champ. I am only learning how to sew, but I wasn't expecting this to sew through 5 layers of canvas. This impressed a couple ladies in the sewing circle I joined, too. I'm glad I got this as my starter. It may be very blue, but don't underestimate it by its hue.
