The sound!
Welded this little bad boy in place of the 18” magnaflow that was on my 2nd gen Tacoma. The Maggie was ok and I rocked it for 9 or so years, but it was only a tad louder than stock when cruising and I had to be over 2k RPM to get any good sound out of it. Again V6 4.0 liter ain’t gonna sound like a diesel or V8 but I wanted more. I started messing around with the exhaust and straight piped the truck for a while. At idle and startup it sounded fierce but any kind of acceleration and I wanted to claw my ears out because it was just way too much. Started doing research and found the Carven type R. Almost every review I saw and YouTube was for 3rd gen Tacoma dudes. I couldn’t find any info on second gen Tacoma dudes who installed this. I pulled the trigger and am LOVING every moment. If you like loud and fierce, buy it. If you like stock and lame, skip it. The Carven type R is just a tad under straight pipe. The difference is when no throttle is had, it’s noticeable and very subtle. When you mash the skinny bros be checking for da beast mobbin down the road. I welded mine in the stock location and just put a 15” straight pipe exiting out the back before the axle. I love how Carven is from So Cal as well…gotta represent!

Loud for a good price
It's nice and deep when your cruising, but when you get in it it gets loud and the cold start is loud also but is does settle down

Best sounding muffler!
I have the Carven R on on my 2001 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 liter V8 on my truck for about 800 miles and it sounds great! It has a deep rumble and personally I don’t think it’s ever too loud. It definitely screams on a cold start but when it warms up it tones down. It does not drone at all, I didn’t notice any of my low end torque go away after installing the muffler also I am getting the same fuel mileage as when I had the stock muffler. To me it’s the perfect muffler for any V8 car or truck! Definitely has a all American sound! *The Video was a cold start

LOUD
Be prepared to wake the neighbors up with this one. It’s loud on start up and when accelerating but when cruising it’s pretty quiet. It had a bad drone at 1800 RPM but noting a 1/4 wave resonator couldn’t fix.
