Mushroom Man LLC, Lion's Mane Mushroom Kit

Arrived on time. Did not come with written directions however QR code scanned which takes you to the videos which has the written directions also. I followed the directions exactly and had no issues. You do have to monitor your “cube” regularly however as long as I kept an eye on it, it did amazing. Already harvested once over a pound and have another 2 growing. Was very easy for my first time growing a mushroom. Highly recommend.

Great product

I got this for my husband for Christmas. Unfortunately, we left for vacation about the time we were supposed to start growing the mushroom (bad planning on my part). They here super helpful explaining how to handle the kit so we could grow the mushroom when we got back. They’ve also been super helpful with questions that have arisen as were growing it. We now have some mushrooms poking out that seem to be growing at a crazy fast rate so it’s fun to watch. Haven’t harvested any yet but it looks like we should be able to in the next week or so. Definitely would purchase again, or possibly another variety if available.

This came with good instructions and was easy to use. Would be an excellent product if only the company would get back to you when you have questions.

The block comes as a just-innoculated block of substrate, with a QR code to watch the instructions and a thick plastic bag with holes cut in it to control the humidity. The instructions are really comprehensive and very clear, and frankly the whole process was a breeze! Watching the block colonize from a brown bag of substrate to full of whispy white mycelium was really fascinating. Cutting the bag open and watching the mycelium start to clump up and grow on the side of the block was really rewarding, and the care for it was straightforward and simple. Lions mane is also really delicious! Our favorite recipe was making "crab" cakes by shredding the lions mane into smaller strands and mixing in to the rest of the ingredients as a crab substitute! Also great fried up on its own.

Not my first experience in growing kit mushrooms, but certainly the poorest. After removing the bagged substrate from the shipping container, I had to find instructions online (thankfully I am internet savvy as he said yours may or may not come with instructions, which mine did not) and I was rather shocked by the rudimentary “rigging” I was expected to perform. Directions are as loose as the received substrate bag I pulled out. YouTube instructions look like they’re filmed by an annoyed guy using sub par lighting/video quality/sound on an outdated iPhone 6. “Your plastic might be loose so grab your shipping tape and tape it up.” What? Non specific, and frankly, air should not be allowed in during shipping process by lazy bagging. Gross. There wasn’t enough tape to get the air out and spores were already activated all over my substrate within six days. Very premature. The guy offers a “fix” for this in step two YouTube video which I had to search for but this fix wouldn’t cover my issue— since not only if one side wasn’t air tight; it was the whole bag. This gets low stars from me especially because this was expensive per the yield, instructions were condescending, and lacking in accountability. Mushrooms can be dangerous, and for all I know, mine sucked up everything floating around in the USPS truck before they ever reached my plate. In retrospect, I’m glad it rendered such a small amount. There’s better out there.

Just follow the instructions! Once you've got your first harvest (mine was size of 2 fists together), twist it off from the grow medium (don't cut it, leaving a base) and just wait for the next harvest to start growing right away. Grows so fast, you can almost watch it getting bigger. Fun as well as delicious! Before it's exhausted, I intend to move the medium to a log outside, hopefully it'll take and grow wild from there.

Great quality lion's mane mushroom kit. I loved it from the moment I un boxed it. I could tell mushroom man really loves their products by the neat way they put it together and his ernest instructions video. Being patient and attentive was the key to my success with this beautiful kit. I have a second flush peeking through the subtrate 2 weeks after harvest as we speak! Once harvested,I simply sauteed it with pink Himalayan salt and butter so I could get to the pure experience of this mushroom. It chews like sponge and turns into that velvety mushroom feel, I am more familiar with. I'll make the vegan crab cakes next time.(and I'm not vegan either) I suffer from neurological problems and feel constant burning in both hands,after eating this lion's mane the pain has subsided on my left hand. I'm getting my money's worth as I watch my 2nd flush grow. They were generous with the mycelium in this kit. I may get a third flush as well. Enjoy!
