Saw one remark, "need to be refrigerated after opening." Backpackers, like me: "What's your experience and whadda ya think?

This package does say to refrigerate.I had whole egg powder from another company for several years that I just kept in the cabinet. The package on that brand did not mention refrigerating, however, I did keep it in a Mason jar and vacuum sealed it after each use. It kept fine. I haven't opened this package yet, but I may keep it in the fridge and a small amount in the cabinet to see if it will keep just like the other brand.

Does the manufacturer give any mention as to it's shelf life if left unopened?

After openning, store at 40 or 50 degrees. The manufacturer claims the product will last 6 months after openning, but it must be refrigerated.

Can this be used in a protein smoothie? Just wondering if there's a strong "egg" taste, or if it's bland like powdered egg whites.

I definitely think this would give a great boost for a protein smoothie. I don't make them myself but I think that, depending on the proportions you use, it could add a nice smooth texture to the drink, not "powdered eggy taste". Actually, since it's spring/summer I think I'll try that myself! Last note: much better than simply powdered egg whites!!!
