Astrea Compact Pure Non-Electric Water Purifier Dispenser Jug With Filter - 2.5 Ltr - White

I really wish I could rate this 5 stars..This is a well-designed, gorgeous looking water pitcher. However, I wish there were more information in the description which clearly outlines what it does and what it does not. The cartridge is an integrated setup that does 3-things: a membrane to remove dirt and sediments, a carbon filter to trap odors , and finally bromine beads for water pathogen disinfection. While this sounds great, what this doesn't tell you is that this filter cannot remove nitrates (or for that matter other inorganics like lead, arsenic or barium)... Unfortunately, the bore well water I had planned to make potable requires a full reverse osmosis setup since it has a high concentration of nitrates (which is a common issue in many urban areas apparently). This pitcher can be used to make water safe from pathogens and improve water clarity. That's all. It cannot remove nitrates which is a significant concern in much of water we get in urban areas (look up blue baby syndrome).

Purchased this product on recommendation by a friend. Have been using it for quite some time and so far it's working pretty good. It's compact size in regard to its functionality is a great advantage. I wish it was available during my hostel days :)

product material and design is good,but bad stomach issue were not gone means no effective bacteria filteringback to boiling water...

As a single person I just fill up the top part once a day out of my kitchen tap and it filters through very quickly and I have a half pitcher of clean water. I can refill it as often as I want if I need more. This way I never have a big heavy water purifier or buy the 20L water can and always have clean water. I have tried a lot of think for drinking water including boiling water but astrea water jug is the best so far.. and the water does taste better. I've already recommended it to all my neighbours since our water supply is not reliable these days.

After using it for a month, this seems like not working at all the way Breeta and other American Brands work, have used those in USA. I was on packed bottled water since was traveling and when came home and used the water from Jug, got bad stomach and have to see doctor. Per doctor, need to get water corrected. I again moved back to Bottled water and all good. Sheer waste and better to spend another 3-4K and get a RO water purifier.

While pouring the filtered water it spills water. The snout is not well designed. It should have a lip so that water does not spill while pouring out.

At start it will look good as on looks and system build. I also fall into this others reviews and bought it. For few days it will work. After 2 week i found getting black particles and dust lying down on filter. I stopped using it immediately. I suggest buy proper filter.

I have used Brita pitchers when I lived in the united states and was looking for similar products when I came back. I found astrea compact pure and have been using it for a few weeks now and I must say the water tastes much better coupled with the fact that it kills germs too. Great Product.
