ACASIS 80Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure, with Cooling Fan, 80Gbps Nvme Enclosure Compatible with USB4 V2.0, MacBook Pro M4/M4 Pro and M4 Max, Mac Mini M4 (TBU 501 PRO-EU)

This ACASIS 80Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure is truly impressive. The build quality feels premium and solid, with great attention to detail. It delivers outstanding transfer speeds and easily handles heavy data transfers without overheating. Installation was simple and tool-free which made setup very quick. The LED indicator is a nice touch showing activity clearly. I tested it with a Gen 4 NVMe drive and achieved speeds very close to the maximum supported by my system. Overall this is one of the best enclosures I have used highly recommended for anyone who values performance and quality.

I had to set it up initially to work on my Mac pro , and also my Mac pro settings to accept it and so had to format the SSD card once in the enclosure to work on the Mac pro. But basically it works fine and have started to export my photos from my Mac pro onto it. So fine ,I only had to set my Mac as it is fairly new so settings on the Mac still had to be done to accept an SSD drive etc . Other than that the Acasis M.2 Enclosure was good. I bought the SSD separately and it worked fine in the enclosure , and with my Mac pro. The enclosure has a button for the fan to come on to keep the enclosure cool if needed when using it for a long time. Exporting from Mac pro to the SSD in enclosure was easy and quick . I can recommend the enclosure , and then one can just but ones own SSD to put in .

I bought this enclosure to be part of my new office setup..... Moving from a 2022 iMac 27" to using a Mac Mini Pro M4 and a MacBook Pro. The new office is still being painted, etc, so I haven't got the Mac Mini setup yet, so haven't tested on that. However, with my old Imac I get almost TRIPLE the write speed and more than double the read speed with this Acasis drive with a 4TB Samsung SSD 990. With the MacBook Pro, which has the TB5 ports to take advantage of the Acasis, again the external drive is faster on both read and write. Setting up the acasis is childs play, no tools required. I would highly recommend the ACASIS 80Gbp/s and the Samsung Drive.

On a TB5 (M4 Max) connection this doubled the transfer rates vs TB4. On a TB 4 connection (M1 Max) the speeds increased over that of the previous enclosure for TB4. The speed is fantastic for large photo transfers and editing, but also for video. All the speed comes at a cost, but the unit is well made, well machined and comes with a quality cable. The fan can be used manually or automatically by temperature. Keep in mind that sustained use will result in throttled speeds even with the fan running. Update: DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE Gen 5 PCie SSD's THEY DONT WORK. Acasis know this but have yet to update their stock. If you want a Gen 5 supported one you have to buy direct from Acasis. They have yet to provide a firmware update to those that have already purchased. Fw 56.56 is the one to avoid if you have Gen 5 Update 2: Acasis have little interest in helping anyone buying from their UK Amazon store, they have clearly updated the hardware but have no interest in helping those that have already purchased. If you ever plan to use PCi5 then do not buy from Acasis Amazon Uk store you have to buy direct.

I purchased direct from ACASIS online... but results should be the same... got this plugged into my Mac Stuido M4 Max via Thunderbolt 5, installed a WD_Black 850X 4TB SSD... wow, its quick, Ive now been spoilt... runs pretty cool, not heard the fans yet, did I mention its quick... have a WD_Black 850X 8TB SSD installed in the same enclosure getting same fast results...

Using my Crucial T500 SSD, this ACASIS unit would not exceed 4000 MB/s, far below the 6000+ MB/s achieved by similar Thunderbolt 5 enclosures, and very similar to my Thunderbolt 4 enclsoures. Extensive troubleshooting with the stock, third-party, and original Apple Thunderbolt 4/5 cables yielded the same poor results. Given that the same SSD performed fine in other enclosures, I concluded the hardware has a compatibility issue. While the enclosure has some positives (smaller footprint, fan control button), they are irrelevant if it fails to deliver the promised 80Gbps speed. I returned the product.

Great device! Robust and reliable, it truly delivers the promised high speeds for both USB 3.2 Gen2 and Thunderbolt interfaces. I use it at work on both Mac and Windows. Another huge advantage is the active cooling system, which prevents the NVME drive from slowing down and deviating from its optimal operating mode. Even during long periods of active use, it maintains normal temperature values. I highly recommend it! Even if the price seems a little high for some users. It's worth it! Believe me!
