Directions 1. Mix Shan Butter Chicken Mix, lemon juice, yogurt, oil and apply to the meat cubes. Marinate for 1-3 hours. 2. Boil the tomatoes in 1-2 cups of water for 10 minutes or until soft and tender. Sieve to remove skin and seeds. Keep tomato puree aside. 3. Separately: Heat a fry pan and add the marinated meat. Cook for 2-3 minutes on medium-low heat and turn the meat. Remove from pan. 4. Add the chicken to the tomato puree. Cover and cook on low heat for about 15 minutes. Add butter and cook for 5 minutes. 5. Add cream. Stir and remove from heat. Serve hot. Review: The butter chicken is delicious with the perfect amount of heat. I brought it to work for lunch and my coworkers couldn’t stop asking what smelled so good, they all thought I got take out. Review: I eat a lot of Indian food. Usually I use the individual spices but decided to give this a try. Firstly it is incredibly salty. It surprised me and I hadn’t added any additional salt. It’s also very very spicy. On a scale of 1-10 I’d probably put it at a 7. I ended up adding a whole cup of cream total just to get it to a palatable point. It was also missing a certain flavor. I tweaked the recipe once I tasted it the way the box suggested and added the full cup of cream instead of the half, I added a tablespoon of sugar and a tablespoon of Garam masala and a tablespoon of crushed fenugreek leaves. Once I tweaked it we were able to eat it for dinner. Don’t think I’ll buy it again but with the other 2 boxes I’ll probably only use a small amount of the seasoning as a marinade

If you've failed at trying to make restaurant-quality Butter Chicken, this is what you need. My family loves it and says it tastes just like the Indian restaurants. I add a little more yogurt and a couple dashes of sugar to sweeten it a bit more.

I usually make my own spice blends, but this one was perfect. I changed the recipe up a little. I deglazed the pan after sauteing the chicken with a little stock. I then added a can of tomato puree, and cooked it out for two mins, then added a cup of milk. Put the chicken back in and simmered for 15 mins. Turned off heat, and added a half cup of butter. No need to add cream, came out perfect. I also use chicken tenderloins chopped into 2 inch chunks. Key is also to marinate your chicken overnight in the spice mix, yoghurt and lemon juice.

I love this! I use it sparingly so a box makes 3 meals for two people and the taste is still delicious. If you want to cook for a family, add more chicken but still taste before you add the entire package. You also can leave out the simple cream. I never have simple cream on hand. Actually, I didn’t even know what it was until I started using this seasoning package.
