Excellent for fly and gnat bite sensitivity. 1,000 lb horse receives 6 oz daily in mash of water-soaked hay pellets plus minerals, added 1/3 c bran to start to overcome the "gummy-ness" of the flax, which I read can help prevent colic. He LOVES his mash. Sweet Itch is gone, crazy biting/stomping at flies is gone - no skin reactions this summer. Used daily for 5 months now and will continue year-round. His coat is super shiny and currying releases dead hairs quickly. Emailed MannaPro about high-heat storage concerns; my Keter tack box faces San Diego's sunny south. I bag daily rations and store 1 week's worth at a time on-site, in a double-walled play-mate type cooler, as was recommended, inside the Keter. No spoilage encountered and it has been consistently 100+ degrees where I board. **Side Note: The Gamma Seal twist on lid for 2 Gallon buckets fits perfectly on the Simply Flax bucket. It's food safe and twist on, bugs and mice can't get in.

My mare is PSSM1 so she needs a lot of fat for energy (not sugar nor carbs). Flaxseed is the best, but living in Tucson, oil spoils quickly out in the barn. I switched to these pellets (I give 4 scoops a day, double the average dose), but it works great for my 18 yo mare that I use for work as a wrangler. Just add the flaxseed to her other supplements. Great coat, and can keep up fine with younger horses.

I feed this as a supplement with grain to improve my horse’s coat quality and support healthy digestion. One bucket will feed two horses 4oz (two scoops; provided) daily. Has proven to be shelf-stable so no need for refrigeration. Good, simple nutrition. Only reason not giving 5 stars is I can get it from feed store for $5 less.
