Starbucks Komodo Dragon Blend®, Whole Bean Coffee (1lb)

I have never been much of a Starbucks fan. But Komodo Dragon has become my favorite home brew. It has a very earthy aroma, and unlike most dark roasts, the flavor isn't overwhelming. While it is expensive, which means I only indulge periodically, it is a nice treat once in a while.

Really good coffee the whole being never lets me down and the fact that it's actually a 16 oz bag instead of 12 like most of them do these days is a plus great flavor

This is absolutely my favorite coffee. Had a bold, flavorful taste that’s not bitter. I know I’m drinking a great cup of coffee.

I try not to support one brand, especially non-local big brands but the Dragon rules! If you like a dark roast like I do, it's this or SB-Espresso roast.

To be sure, this is really great coffee. After reading other reviews I decided to give Komodo a try as I really like strong, freshly ground and brewed coffee without the bitter taste that many strong coffees have. Starbucks Sumatra has delivered this for me in the past and has been my preferred blend for some time. I tried the Komodo blend and it is indeed quite good and very similar to the Sumatra. I can understand why some might prefer this over Sumatra but I am not there yet myself. It will definitely not disappoint, however.

My boyfriend and I have had a really difficult time in the past trying to find a coffee we both like black. It seems like all of the coffees on the market taste very sour and acidic, which we don't like. We have tasted a whole bunch of coffees and we love this coffee. It's very nutty tasting. There is no acidic, sourness at all. This coffee has definitely turned into our go-to coffee and is pretty much the only coffee we buy for home use. I also bought the KitchenAid BCG111ER Blade Coffee Grinder in red to use with this coffee. Being able to have freshly ground coffee every morning has made getting ready for work a whole lot easier. Also, I would definitely suggest switching to a whole bean coffee and using a coffee grinder. Being freshly ground brings out so many other flavors and notes that you other wise loose.

OK I have been drinking komodo dragon for my guess is about 25 years. I first started with the decaf version and I probably drank that for two years then I move to the caffeinated version. I don’t know what coffee is in this package, but it is not Komodo dragon. The first problem was when I open the package I noticed the coffee beans are completely devoid of oils they do not look shiny at all. They are very dry, looking and old and when I say old, I mean like years old. The second problem is the packaging itself if you go into a Starbucks store and pull this particular brand off the shelf. You are going to see a completely different kind of packaging, which means that this product is old. They are using the old packaging. Also, usually there is a date on the package that tells you when the coffee was made. There is no date on this packaging. I went ahead and put this in my coffee machine and brewed it. But let me tell you when I tasted it. It was so bad I had to spit it back out and that is not an exaggeration. When you consider that this is three dollars more than it is when you purchase it in the store. And how absolutely old it is and a possibility that it varies likely not even Komodo dragon with the problem of not being able to return it then I would say do not buy this because if you do, it’s like buying a brick inside a plastic bag. I could never recommend this to anyone ..
