Writing a clothing review is always tricky since so much depends on personal preference. For these shirts, I’m giving five stars. The fit was excellent — most dress shirts tend to be baggy on me, but these were not. The styling was clean and modern, and the overall value is impressive. They truly look like a more expensive shirt. My only minor complaint is that the fabric was a bit thin for my taste, though that’s purely a personal preference. Overall, I definitely recommend this shirt.

As far as quality goes, this is a fantastic shirt. As far as how it fits... Well first and foremost, you have to understand the difference between fitted and slim fit. This shirt should definitely be considered slim-fitting as opposed to fitted. Slim fit shirts are great for guys with normal bodies to pretty buff. Fitted are better for people with slim and more athletically toned bodies. That being said, super buff guys who choose to wear extra fitted shirts look dumb. Personal opinion, but just putting it out there. I know we all want to go for that button-popping look but, when you're getting a quality dress shirt, you want to look legend- wait for it and yes this is a HIMYM reference- dary. So, this shirt gets four stars. The fabric is excellent quality and looks both classically tasteful and impressive with a nice black suit. But the fit isn't fitted. It's more slim than anything else. But it's nothing your tailor can't help resolve and truthfully, all of Van Heusen fitted dress shirts are like this. J Ferrar tend to be a bit truer in size to what you can expect from a genuinely fitted dress shirt. But expect to pay a bit more as well. Anyway, more often than not, you shouldn't expect to buy a dress shirt online and have it fit you perfectly without seeing a tailor. Just doesn't work that way. But to be clear, I didn't mark it down for that. I marked this shirt down because most people who understand the difference between slim fit and fitted shirts are bound to expect one thing and get something else entirely.

I purchased this shirt as part of the grooms men’s outfits for a wedding I attended recently. I have a few comments: Positives: fits well for the cost, affordable. Slim fitted shirt fit fine and looked great with an undershirt. Negatives: nearly sheer, absolutely requires an undershirt (my farmer’s tan is visible through the sleeves). Quality a bit on the poor side. Threads securing the buttons each started to unravel after a single wear and wash. Could be unique to this exact shirt, however, as I have several other Van Heusen shirts and they do not have this problem. Furthermore, I would recommend shirt stays with this particular shirt as it is very, very light and easily untucked. I was the only groomsman wearing stays, and I was the only one that didn’t have to constantly retuck the rear of the shirt in. Overall, for $20, this is a manageable dress shirt. If there was some assurance that the issue with the button threads unraveling was unique to my shirt (although admittedly it appears to simply be lackluster construction quality), I would consider purchasing again. However, Banana Republic and J. Crew constantly have sales on similar shirts of a much superior quality for a comparable price ($18-25). I would exhaust other options before pulling the trigger on this shirt.
