Yes, this knife making sharpening jig can work with 1x42inch Kalamazoo belt sander.

Is it solid aluminum or is only part of it?

It is solid aluminum with the exception of a plastic strip on the bottom which is supposed to reduce friction when in use. This plastic strip came detached in my case. and made the unit unusable until repaired. The socket head screws are metric and made from steel.
