I had a desktop that the Ethernet port died on. I never knew these adapters even existed until I had this problem. I just plugged it into a USB port, no software to install, and I can connect with an Ethernet cable again. That simple. Also, if you have a Chromebook that does not have an Ethernet port you can use this to connect it via Ethernet if you need to.

This works very well with Chromebooks. I purchased it because I use my Acer Chromebook for some network and systems administration tasks and often wifi isn't available for the networks I need.There was zero setup, I plugged it in and then it was in my network connection list. Easy-peasy!Small, light, and functional. Just what I like in my electronics.

I got this for a home brew gateway firewall i wanted to build. The main board only had one pci slot and I needed it for the wifi card I wished to use. I bought this for the ethernet connection to the DSL modem and for that it's perfectly fine (100Mbs is certainly overkill for the moment as my connection is only 28Mbs). The software is pfSense, so those of you using FreeBSD/Linux won't have a trouble with this dongle.

I had a little difficulty connecting this to my computer, at first, use to a problem with one of my USB ports. The support experience was quick and thorough, and got me going with a couple of questions.

It does the job well enough. Works great on my Asus Chromebook Flip, which is what I bought it for.I need to be able to connect to devices via ethernet sometimes to configure them. This allows me to use my chromebook for that.It'd be nice if it were gigabit, but for my uses it's not worth the price difference for me to go for a different product.

Works perfectly, no problems whatsoever. Easy plug and play install with windows 8. Have this installed at a customer site on an ACER laptop that did not have Ethernet built in. This Laptop is on 24/7 and it's been running for 2 months with no issues. Highly recommended, in fact, am ordering another one today!

I have an Android HDMI Dongle media PC I wanted to hard-wire (Tronsmart T428, Android 4.2.2). This adapter worked instantly, no software/driver installation required. Speeds are as expected.I have an Edimax travel router that works well, and this adapter was cheaper than most on here, so I went with what I knew.

I bought this adapter in July 2013 and used it successfully with my MacBook Air running OS X 10.8. Life was good, very good.On October 22, 2013, Apple released OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), and I updated my OS. At this point, the adapter stopped functioning. Looking at the company's web site, there is *no mention* of either "Mavericks" or "10.9," which is not comforting. The first developer preview of Mavericks was released on June 10, 2013, so Edimax had about four months to test their products for compatibility, and perhaps even time to address problems. At the very least, I would like to know what the company's plan is with regard to updating their drivers.If you are using OS X 10.9, or plan to upgrade to OS X 10.9 at some point, I recommend that you do not buy this adapter until it's clear Edimax has developed a working driver.

Does the job. It comes with a mini cd but I didin't use mine, I just plugged it into a usb port and it works ok. I have a11'' HP laptop with no Ethernet port.
