I drive a 2013 Honda CRV and recently used the car phone mount attached to the windshield on a 12.5 hour journey using interstates and secondary roadways which included both smooth and slightly rough pavements. I installed the phone holder on the bottom left corner of the windshield in the same location where I place my Garmin GPS; and with the extension, the phone is suspended just left of my steering wheel but not obscuring vision. I found that on smooth roads, the phone (Galaxy S5 in an Otterbox defender case and weighing 7 ounces) was reasonably steady meaning that there was slight movement of the phone and my GPS application, Waze, worked well and was easy to read. However on slightly rough roads, there was considerable movement making the GPS map hard to read. My suggestion to the manufacturer is to attach a support which can be easily positioned to brace the extension on the dash and dampen vibration coming through the windshield and dashboard to add stability and readability on rougher roads. That's the reason for the 4 stars- my suggestion is an easy remedy as other manufacturers have already adopted extension supports. The phone holder is very secure and it holds my phone easily. I did try the vent holder, but it's not robust enough to support a heavy phone, and I prefer to view a GPS closer to eye level for safety reasons. And, the dash mount is not practical as my dash has too many sloped areas. In lieu of a dash mount, my suggestion is to offer a short windshield mount- this is preferred for me and has proven well for the past 7 years to be the most stable position for a GPS device or phone holder. My recent trip was in April 2018 with air temperatures in the 60's F; I'm unsure how the plastic and suction cups will hold up in summer heat when a parked car can allow temperatures to rise to 120 F or more. I live in the southeast and summer temperatures in the upper 90's F are not uncommon. When I'm traveling and stopping for food or fuel, I leave the mount connected to the windshield. When my trip is over, I take down the car mount and store it in my home. I do like the phone mount but not every mounting option in the kit is ideal for my car which makes the Vansky 3-in-1 very useful for others as cars are different and preferences vary.

I purchased the car cell phone mount for the dash and windshield mounting assemblies. Given that this mounting hardware uses the typical ball socket it is nearly has universal combability with other mounting accessories. I did not use the grip holder parts but instead added a MagSafe magnetic holder and charger instead. See the pictures above. It allows me to use the phone holder on an old desk next to my bed. The suction holds great even when stuck to wood. I tried the vent mount in the car, and it did not hold my phone stable in a Honda CRV 2018's vents. I am not sure if any vent holder would in that car though. I have moved the windshield suction mount around to different places around the house without a problem with it sticking firmly in each spot. It did start slipping on the wood desk though. I followed their instructions to clean it with warm water and let it dry. I also used some rubbing alcohol to clean the desk while it dried. It is no longer slipping and falling off the desk now. I was using another mount to hold my phone on the desk, but this one with its bending and shaping abilities makes this mount have infinite propositioning compared to the other normal mounts. See the pictures to compare. I love the minimalist styling of this mount, and its ability to position the phone just perfectly. I am surprised that other companies are not cloning this car holder. I am sure they will be in the future. I cannot recommend this mount enough and such I gave this a very easy 5 stars! If I have any problems with it not holding up I will update my review. But given the holder's solid well-made feel I do not see needing an update.

Plastic bolt that holds the phone part broke after a few weeks of use. Also, had a hard time sticking every once in a while.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much for the price, but this thing surprised me. The suction cup sticks like glue — even through summer heat and rough roads — and the arm doesn’t shake at all. I love that I can use it on my dashboard, windshield, or air vent depending on the car. It’s super easy to pop my phone in and out, and it holds tight without scratching. I’ve gone through a few cheap mounts before, and this one just feels better built. Definitely worth it — does exactly what it should and does it well! I’ve also been using it as a mount for my phone to take photos through the lens of my telescope and it has exceeded anything I could’ve imagined!

The item was delivered promptly, and assembly is quite easy. It comes with a separate phone mount at the back of which is a socket into which you can fit the ball of one of three mounts: a suction cup mount that you can then affix to your car windshield, a sticky mount that you can affix to your dashboard, or an air-vent mount that is supposed to clamp on to your air vent vanes. Assembly was very quick and effortless. I tried the air vent mount first. The phone and its mount are heavy enough that they immediately pulled the vent vanes down almost fully closed. But the mount seemed to stay on and I was hopeful. But once the car started moving, the mount came out of the air vent and went crashing to the floor of my car. I noticed that the four rubber jaws that are supposed to hold the air vent vanes were not very tightly closed and had already opened up. Next I tried the windshield suction-cup mount. I cleaned off the windshield, cleaned the suction cup, then fully opened the suction cup button before pressing it against the windshield and flipping the button to the closed position. The windshield mount's arm is very stiff and strong, so when I mounted the phone in it, it did not sag or droop. I left the mount overnight in the car, and when I went back to it the next morning, the mount was on the floor, having come off the windshield sometime overnight. The suction cup switch was still in the closed position, but the suction cup just wasn't designed well enough to stay on even for one night, with phone weight or vibration. I can only imagine how durable this would be if I started driving around with my phone in the mount. I have not tried the dashboard mount so far. I am not a big fan of sticking something semi-permanently onto my dashboard especially given that different passengers may prefer to have their phones mounted in different places. At this point, I will probably return this phone mount and get something based on a different design. I wish this holder had included a CD slot mount. Those seem to much more secure. And honestly, I don't know if anybody still uses a CD slot to play CD's in their cars, so it seems to be designed just to mount phones! One more annoying aspect of this phone holder is the placement of the button that releases the spring-loaded phone clamp. It is at the back, near the top of the phone mount. However, since most phones are much taller than the actual mount, this button placement is very inconvenient. It is difficult to reach this button either from the bottom or the top when the phone is in the mount. You have to release it from the side in most cases, which seems uncomfortable and may be difficult if the phone is large. Apart from these problems, the product is decent, and if the mounts had worked, I would have overlooked the placement of the release button and kept it anyways. The mount has a pair of prongs at the bottom that are placed so as not to block the charging or headphone ports. And the side clamps did not block the power or volume buttons on my phone. But the fact that it does not fulfill the basic requirement that it be able to provide a secure place for me to mount my phone in my car necessitates the return of this product and the search for something better continues.
