Offers good hydration & the low glycemic load looks good. Unfortunately, a vinegary taste makes it a little hard to swallow.
The Kill Cliff Endure is an effective thirst quencher and seems to be an effective hydrator and is a good source of potassium (470mg per bottle). It's main claim is that its Palatinose (a low glycemic carbohydrate derived from sugar beets) helps to maintain endurance through its sustained glucose supply, which in turn promotes fat oxidation. For hydrating during a working, the Kill Cliff Endure looks up to the task. For me, the taste was not great (Berry Punch). It's tart, which I generally like, but it's not very sweet, and has some off, almost vinegar-like notes. This is less noticeable when it's cold, but I generally drink my sports drinks at closer to room temperature, and at that point, I found it to be a bit less palatable than similar drinks. I gave a bottle to a couple of co-workers of mine, and they both also noted the vinegary taste almost immediately. It's not the worst thing I've ever tasted, but it definitely tastes different than any sports drinks you may have previously been used-to.

Better Alternative to Gatorade …
I’m not a real big fan of most sports drinks as they simply offer an abundance of sugar as a cheap carb for energy. KILL CLIFF ENDURE appears to take a smarter approach to the sports drink and offers a product made of more desirable ingredients and a surprisingly better taste. I was surprised with quality and taste of this drink.WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IS IN ITKILL CLIFF ENDURE is not a recovery drink; it is designed for use before and during activity to sustain hydration and energy levels. The key ingredients for achieving the desired results are the 470mg of potassium (electrolytes) and Palatinose (derived from sugar beets, it is low glycemic and a slow-release carb). The slow release factor is key to sustain the carb energy (in the form of glucose) for a longer period of time and oxidizes fat. There are no artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors. A 20oz. bottle is a single serving and it has 110 calories.HOW IT FARESMy workouts center on heavy lifting, so this drink is missing the BCAAs I seek in a workout drink (or the caffeine I would want in a designated pre-workout drink). With that being said, I believe this particular drink is well-rounded and suitable for any/all athletic activities. While I wouldn’t use this by itself as a go-to for my powerlifting training (unless I added BCAAs to it), I most definitely would use it the day of a powerlifting meet because of the slow release carb benefit. It’s perfect for long-haul activity and doesn’t generate the quick energy spike (and subsequent crash) that so many sugar-based energy/endurance drinks offer. This is a big deal to me.It also has a more “mature” taste to it … it tastes great, but without the sickly candy-like flavoring we are accustomed to with most sports drinks. My 11 year old daughter is a competitive gymnast who always brings a bottle of Gatorade to practices (4 hour practices, 4 days a week). I swapped her Gatorade with the KILL CLIFF and she immediately noticed the differences in both taste and performance. The syrupy and sweet Gatorade had to be cut down with water, but the KILL CLIFF worked extremely well straight. It was much lighter with a less sugary and more natural, subtle flavoring (Blood Orange). One thing she noticed was that she can chug KILL CLIFF without it impeding her practice, whereas Gatorade (even when cut with water) had to be sipped to avoid feeling bloated. Additionally, KILL CLIFF keeps the energy output even … NO SPIKES.This is a more serious endurance drink than a lot of the garbage on the market today. Most sports drink companies seem to focus on flavor and gimmicks … KILL CLIFF takes a no-nonsense approach to the issue of hydration/endurance and offers a high quality product that works well and tastes remarkably good.

Palatinose vs. Other Sugars - Do Your Research
Consumers beware of some of the reviews, specially comparing this product to simple sugar-based products such as Gatorade & Soft Drinks. The comparison is frankly unfounded & uneducated. This product uses Palatinose (isomaltulose) which is purely based on sucrose from sugar beets. Palatinose’s sustained-release formulation allows it to provide a steady supply of carbohydrate energy with less effect on blood glucose levels and insulin. Moreover, Palatinose has been demonstrated to enhance fat oxidation, improve metabolic threshold, & sustain energy expenditure. Ideally best for heavy aerobic activity 90 minutes or greater.Dextrose, Fructose, Glucose, etc found in other sports products (ie Gatorade, Soda, etc) deliver rapid, large swings in blood glucose favorably & unfavorably. Arguably there is a place for glucose-based products in sports nutrition when rapid glucose replenishment is required.Make an educated choice but do some research & don’t fall for correlation of Palatinose to other simple sugar-based products.

Tastes like watered down orange juice.
The Kill the Quit Blood Orange Endurance Drink is here on my desk for review. First things first. How does it taste? For me it tastes like watered down orange juice, but just a little less sweet. Another reviewer suggested that it tastes a bit like Tang, but for me, a watered down version of Tang. This beverage leaves a slight orange after taste in my mouth which is not unpleasant and lasts for a few minutes. It does not have an artificial or chemical smell or taste. The main ingredient of this beverage is water and the second ingredient is Palatinose, the trade name for Isomaltulose, which Wikipedia tells me is a carbohydrate made up of glucose and fructose, with half the sweetness of these two ingredients. The next ingredient is citric acid, then natural flavor, potassium citrate, fruit and vegetable extract, sea salt, and finally monk fruit extract. 24 grams of sugar are contained in one serving of this beverage. Yes, that’s a lot of sugar. How effective is this beverage in replacing lost water and electrolytes during work or exercise? That’s a great question and I don’t have the answer. Each person who buys this beverage will be the judge of just how he or she feels drinking this beverage while exercising or working outdoors in the summer on a hot day. Many people know that water is what is most recommended by most sources on the Internet for hydrating while working or exercising and the first ingredient of this beverage is water. The taste is not great, but it is also not unpleasant. Few people will opt for this beverage instead of their favorite soft drink, but perhaps they should.
