I gave this as a gift to a Persian ex-pat. He loved it as did everyone else. He mentioned that often books of Persian Art stop at the regime change of the 70's and this was much more comprehensive.

Henry Stierlin's Persian Art and Architecture is the best book on Middle Eastern architecture that I have seen. Absolutely beautiful!

In this hard cover reference book, the major emphasis is on color photographs with associated text. Superb high-resolution images (mostly color) are printed on high quality paper and print quality is excellent. I think it is a very useful and authoritative publication on Persian Art and Architecture.

Simply a masterpiece, probably the best overview one can have regarding Persian -Iranian Islamic art and architecture. I just love this book.

I was so inspired by the book that I took out of the local library that I wanted to own a copy myself. It's awe inspiring. It also made me a bit sad that the geopolitical and inner conflicts in the region have led to so much destruction of these priceless architectures and art. Reading this book is a MUST for any art and architecture lovers.
