Can pets splash the water out of the fountain?

My dog and cat occasionally get into this fountain. This causes it to fall off its base, then it splashes a bit and said culprit, runs off!! This has happened a dozen or so times and the fountain is still like new. I use fake candles because of this, they work fine. My husband says he has caught the dog drinking from it too! This is ok because I dont use any of the water conditioner as this fountain needs to be refilled about twice a week, even without the help of the dog. We had it outside this summer on the deck, in those conditions it needs water everyday.

does it use electic plug to operate

It is a very nice fountain. Plugs into the wall, and small enough for a small table or office. The plug is attached to the fountain.

The pump stopped working after 2nd use... what size is the pump it came with so I can pay to order a better one

I have found that the pump intake can get clogged up. I disassemble the fountain and remove the pump. In a sink with an electrical outlet nearby. I clean the pump intake with a tooth brush. Then I test the pump and vary the setting with the little slider switch. I select the maximum and note that for future reference. If the pump at this testing stage does not put out a goodly volume of water, I disassemble the pump and clean the parts and reassemble. Be careful of losing the parts down the drain. Also I clean the plastic tube that runs from the pump to the top cup. This is all I have ever had to do. The pump intake seems to accumulate a waxy substance from the fountain so I have to do the cleaning periodically. Write back for clarification if you have problems with this procedure. I have had other resin fountains that get stained with calcium and then the paint or outer layer peels or erodes away. How well do these hold up?

I've had it for about five months. I do not run it continuously but a few hours per week. There's been no calcium build up or peeling paint at this point.

Poor quality and not worth the price
