As a new father at the time of playing this game who was ALSO forgiving my own father for our lack of a relationship this game hit hard. Must play. Give your dad a hug.

So yes I'm that person who had never played a previous God of War game but was seeing and hearing about everyone playing this new one so decided I was going to buy it and see what all the fuss was about. I...WAS...NOT...DISAPPOINTED! This game is fantastic! The graphics alone are just beautiful to look at, top it off with the story hundreds of side quests it was hours and hours (not to mention days & weeks) of entertainment. Absolutly recommend to anyone who likes action/adventure games.

One of the best video games on the PS4, and arguably 2018. Strays away from the previous hack-and-slash iteration of the franchise for a much slower, methodical combat system. It has a very simple story, but has great characters (especially the voice acting), great locations, and above all great game-play. Truly a masterful cinematic rendition of a video game.

The lore, the game play, the graphics, the re-playability, the side quests that are not boring even though its not part of the main story line. Everything about this game is amazing and I haven't come across a game that blew me away like this one did in 2 years (and counting)

My review would be closer to 9/10 with a more granular scale. The cinematics, story, and sound design are impeccable, and this coming from a primarily PC gamer. It looks gorgeous, and has fantastic story beats and set pieces to drive you through at least 30 hours to beat. I actually found myself going out of my way to explore frequently, which I don't often do. The biggest downside for me was the combat, I could just never get good at it. I usually despise character action games, largely due to the combat style. This installment is better in that regard, but I still felt like some of the higher end challenges were just too far outside my skill level, even after rolling credits. This 4/5 is personal because the combat was such a turn off for me, specifically. If I got a better grasp of the combat or enjoyed that specific style more, it'd be an easy 5/5,

Sony pulls another one out of the bag with an amazing exclusive. Was looking forward to seeing the gameplay changes as I wasn’t a huge fan of the originals, job well done guys. I loved the evolution of the gameplay with the callbacks to the original thrown in that make this a God of War title. It was amazingly gorgeous on my Pro and 4K HDR TV. Absolutely superb. Looking forward to seeing where they take this IP in future.
