You can't lose with this device.
This review takes the cost of the Flash into consideration--for its price point, and anything else under $60, there just isn't a product that comes close to its functionality. Although I have since switched to a Vivofit 2 (details on that later in the review), I still keep the Flash around for its other functions.PEDOMETER: When testing the misfit against my Vivofit 2, I manually counted my steps and found them both within 5 steps of each other after 500 steps. After a long day of work at the hospital, the Flash and the Vivofit 2 both logged 9540 and 9602 steps, respectively. I think the consistency of both machines is just incredible, considering the variables involved in body mechanics, wearing position, etc (both were worn on the hip for sanitation reasons). Winner: TieWORKOUT TRACKING: The flash measures steps, even during sports tracking--however, it can be programmed to interpret your "steps" as movements involved in several different sports (soccer, basketball, etc) when activity tracking is activated. This tells your phone to assign a higher caloric burn while activity tracking is activated. It is simple, but it works very well. I do heavy bag training at my gym and when assigned to "basketball" it gives me a very close estimate to what my heart rate monitor would calculate; and as a bonus, I even get punch counting when worn on the wrist. The vivofit doesn't count my punches at all, which is disappointing; however, I use it with a heart rate monitor with good results for calorie burn. Winner: Vivofit 2EASE OF USE: The Flash syncs from the app when you swipe down to refresh, while the Vivofit requires you to manually send a refresh from the device while keeping the app open on the phone. Big points to Misfit on this one. The Misfit app is very well polished and nice to look at, but the same cannot be said for Garmin. Garmin has more comprehensive web-app, if you like to see your statistics on a computer. Winner: Misfit flash, by a mile.SLEEP TRACKING: The Flash does a wonderful job tracking sleep, accurately detecting the moment I fall asleep and the moment I wake up (but only when worn on the wrist). In the event that it does not detect properly, you can input the times you fell asleep and it will generate a graph based on your movement during those hours (this came in a recent update). You can't, at the time of the review, add nap times or adjust the automatic detection hours (too bad for night shift workers). The Vivofit 2 has been updated with automatic sleep tracking as well, and you can adjust the automatic detection hours as well as add nap times; although sadly, naps are not analyzed. The automatic sleep detection of the Vivofit is not as accurate as the Misfit, and the sleep phase detection isn't as sensitive.Winner: The Misfit Flash wins here; but if you work the night shift, the Vivofit 2 wins by default.BUILD QUALITY: There isn't much to say about the build quality of the Flash--it is as expected for the price point. The band does not feel sturdy, and sometimes, the device pops in towards your wrist when pressing the button (it re-seats itself just fine when you let go). The device itself doesn't scream heavy duty--but it doesn't seem particularly fragile either. It feels adequate. The inclusion of the clothing clip is a huge asset to the misfit--as it gives the user plenty of choices for wearing the tracker. The Vivofit 2 feels like a tank in comparison, but can only be worn on the wrist or placed in your pocket (a bummer for healthcare workers who are concerned about the device trapping microbes). Winner: Vivofit 2, but the Misfit is MUCH more versatile.BATTERY LIFE: Vivofits have a battery life of a year, Misfits are good for 6 months. Vivofit batteries are more expensive than Misfit batteries. Winner: TieAS A MOTIVATION TOOL: This is where the Vivofit 2 earned its place on my wrist. The Vivofit 2 has your steps displayed on your wrist displayed, 24/7. If you sit still for too long, it shames you with a red bar--which doesn't go away unless you get up and take a hundred steps or so (my favorite feature). The goals are steps on the Vivofit 2 and it's recalculated each day, depending on how you did the previous day. Misfit, on the other hand, sits silently on your wrist and doesn't nag or shame you into working harder. Misfit's goals are on a proprietary scale, which doesn't bother me, but I would have preferred a step goal that everyone can understand. By tapping on the Flash, you can get a circular graph telling you how far you are away from your goal. Winner: Vivofit 2SOFTWARE SUPPORT: The software team at Misfit seem to be working hard to keep new features coming, so my review is likely to be a little outdated in just a few months. I'm a huge fan of companies who continue to improve their products after release. Garmin gets updates, but most of the updates are bug fixes. Winner: Misfit Flash.BONUS FEATURES: The Flash was my first activity tracker purchase, and the deciding factor for was the fact that it could control the music on your phone and link to many different apps as a remote. In fact, even though I wear the Vivofit 2 as my tracker, I still keep the Flash as a media remote (I has helped me locate my phone dozens of times now). Winner: Definitely the Misfit Flash. If this is your first fitness tracker, you cannot lose by buying this device, IMHO. Even if you end up buying a more expensive one later, the other features alone justify its cost.

A good entry into trackers, but build quality issues
***see last update - product is 1 star, maybe 2 on a good day...This tracker works great and honestly, does as good of a job as any more expensive tracker. Easy to see in the daylight and fits comfortably. I have purchased 3 of them (1 for me and 2 as gifts) and the band broke on one. I contacted Misfit and they sent out a new band free of charge. Couldn't be happier with the product or the service.Update 03/21/15: A few things are frustrating me with this tracker. Of the 3 I've bought for myself, my sister and friend, 2 bands broke, 1 stopped working after being submerged in water and 1 has syncing issues and often loses activity data.Misfit replaced the band once and the water seal defective unit too, but it is getting to the point where I will probably just invest into a more reliable and sturdy tracker like a Fitbit. I'm going to contact them one more time, but over the last 4 months I can easily say this is a good entry into the activity trackers, although a cheap one materials wise. You get a great deal, but it's not going to be a long lasting experience. Taking down from 5 to 3 stars for repeated product failures, but great customer service.Update 03/24/15: They are sending a replacement band. As for the somewhat defective unit, the Misfit customer service told me that I had recently synced my flash and they didn't see any issues. So I took some screen grabs from my nike+ account to show them that if they match up my active days to the Misfit sync data, they would see that there are huge discrepancies in activity data between the two on occasions. Yes, it is "syncing", but not consistently syncing correctly unless it's supposed to not work 100% of the time, although I highly doubt Misfit designed it that way. I am now feeling even more inclined to switch brands.Update 08/17/15: After numerous(4+ between the 3 I bought) band replacements, issues with water resistant seals, spotty battery life and Bluetooth connection fails, I can honestly say I gave this product a good run and I can now rightly say, it's not worth your money. Plain and simple, the hassle to maintain the device and it's consistent failures make it not worth the $25. Customer service was great in the beginning, but after my unit was not syncing right and they kept telling me it was low battery and not defective, I gave up. A new battery didn't fix the issue and the new battery after that didn't either so you'd think they would just replace it, but they wanted to try one more battery...My sister got me a FitBit Flex today, sunny days ahead now.

Great product, that doesn't last.
Great product, nice software, terrible durability. Bought 4, and all 4 failed within 3-4 months of normal use. All for the same fault; the small clip that is the contact for the battery snapped under normal use. Consequently they failed before the battery was even depleted. Either a design or quality flaw, but unfortunately it means I'll be avoiding Misfit products now.

Prezzo/prestazioni imbattibile.

Lovin' it
Been using this one for just the last 2-3 days and I'm really impressed -1) The band and clip quality are really awesome.2) The device is powered by cells(kinda the ones used in watches). It was 75% level when I got the device.3) Using this device on my WP device(L830) and not facing any issues for pairing. It does need sometimes manual click for sync but I'm fine with that as I turn off Bluetooth on my phone and only sync the misfit once a day.4) The device is scarily accurate in tracking my activities. The sleep times were bang on correct and even the distances it recorded for my run(checked on maps to confirm my distances). And I'm impressed at this quality knowing the fact that it doesn't have GPS.Will definitely buy this or more expensive Misfit products in future.
