Very solid book for test preparation!
This is an incredibly thorough book. Even with a quick read-through of it, you can tell right away that if a rising high schooler can work through and understand the questions in this book, that he or she will be very well prepared for what lay ahead on the actual SSAT Test. The math questions are very rigorous, and the reading comprehension sections really challenge one's attention. This will not be a cakewalk for either your child or for you, but if you take your time, work through the questions and study the answers (and their reasoning), then you can definitely expect a smoother test taking experience.

Never used it
This review was not written by me and I did not purchase this book with intents to use it. It was purchased and written by the author of the book. Any reviews that are 5 stars should be taken with a grain of salt. The author gets his friends to post 5 start reviews on all his books. I'm guilty of doing so and sorry for misleading the consumer. I'm not saying the books are good or bad.Got a lot out of SHSAT Practice Tests (same author), so I gave this one a shot, too. quite difficult for ssat.standards, but better prepared than sorry.

Excellent set of practice tests with a thorough answer explanation section
Going through this book with my bright high school hopeful, I found The Better Writing Center's SSAT practice tests to live up to its name--the problems were demanding and rigorous, but logical. The answer portion of the book was especially helpful: the explanations went into considerable detail to help break down the problem sets into digestible components. I will be checking out what other offerings this publisher has, as I found it to be surprisingly more helpful than the bigger name prep options out there.

Look elsewhere.
The questions in this book are significantly harder than in any other prep material. I suspect this is not in a good way since it could be disheartening to a student. The analogy section was especially brutal, even for a pair of well-educated parents.

Absolutely horrible. I"m a tutor
Absolutely horrible. I"m a tutor, preparing students for standardized tests from the SSAT to the ACT/SAT and GRE/GMAT. This book is completely non representative of the difficulty of questions on the SSAT (especially in the math section) The analogies and synonyms have poor answers and often inverted answers for the analogies. Avoid. There are several better books, including Peterson's and SSAT's own book

This is probably the most difficult SSAT prep book. ...
This is probably the most difficult SSAT prep book. I am not too sure how much my kid can get out from it besides frustration!
