Bernat Softee Chunky Yarn (28005) White, 1 - Pack

We are very pleased with this super chunky yarn (#6). We spent a lot of time hunting for yarn that is specifically good for beginners like us who are learning to knit a scarf using a loom. This yarn fits the bill! So far, we have bought 10 skeins in three different colors. The pumpkin color is fun for fall. We especially like how easy to grip the yarn is. It is thicker than others and has a firm feeling that makes it easy to handle. The yarn does not separate or unravel. This yarn had to take a lot of abuse due to beginner mistakes. We had to undo half of the scarf and re-knit it. The yarn miraculously kept its shape! In addition, the yarn is machine washable and the colors are attractive. If you are new to loom knitting or have a disability that makes it difficult to grasp thinner, softer yarns, this chunky yarn is a great choice.

This Bernat Softee Chunky yarn is so easy to work with! It glides through your project like butter! For a #6 weight yarn it is very soft, it’s easy on your fingers! I’ve ordered it several times now! I used it to make my Rustic Farmhouse Kitty!

I got the Bernat Softee Chunky yarn (Shadow) to make a throw blanket. I ended up using 6 different skeins. There was some issue with color consistency but that is to be expected with different dye lots. What was more annoying was the lack of consistency in texture. Some skeins were stiff and rough, but overall I liked the yarn, thought it was fun and easy to work with, and made a fun looking blanket. I used Bernat softee chunky Dark Mauve and Seagreen for two of the solid colors (and a different brand entirely for the solid beige color). Those skeins were softer, for some reason. They also didn’t match the colors in the variegated Shadow yarn as closely as I would have hoped considering they were they same brand, but it worked out for my blanket since there is a lot going on.

Great yarn

Brought this yarn on the recommendation of a crochet pattern. It turned out super cozy and warm. On a softness scale, I'd maybe give it a 7? Its pretty soft for most people. If you have very, very sensitive skin though, it might feel a little scratchy. I would use it again for a warm project.

I think the yarn is a very nice color, I picked the denim ombré for my project. The year isn’t soft at all, it’s very stiff and corse to the touch. It will do for what I’m making but it isn’t soft.

Nice and soft. very chunky and easy to work with, which is great if you're ust starting out. I was making a standard sized scarf and 3 balls were sufficient : )
