It took 5 minutes to replace and works great. Thanks Davis!!
I have a 2014 Vantage Pro 2. This module is for any spring 2013 or later Vantage Pro 2. The steps to replace were easy. Use an allen wrench to remove wind cups. (hopefully you saved yours from the initial installation). Then remove the philips head screw from the existing module. The existing installed module may then require a bit of muscle effort to remove as it has been in place for years. Simply work that in a gentle manner and that module will eventually release. You will likely see a magnet on the top of that old module and you will not see that magnet on the new replacement module. What you will see is a plastic cap. I thought I needed to then remove that cap as there were no instructions, however I chose to simply install the replacement module as is with the cap still on and then see what happened. I used the philips screw to attach the new module and then reattached the wind cups with the allen wrench and then checked the display and sure enough, it was working just fine. 5 minutes of effort and an inexpensive solution to this type of issue that was not available for pre 2013 wind cups. Thanks Davis for this superior and inexpensive implementation. Thanks Amazon for one day shipping.

if all your anemometer is having problems with bearings, this is the part you want.
One thing I noticed on my part is that the magnet on my replacement part is covered with a plastic cover and I'm pretty sure it's sealed! The picture I added here is MY old part which had the magnet exposed. If you have a similar part like mine, don't try to pull off the "cover"--it seems to be the way they are now and it works just fine with the plastic covering, perhaps it will protect the bearing a bit!The replacement process is as mentioned before, you need the incredibly small allen wrench and then a #2 phillips is all you need. Total time (once you get to the anemometer) is about 5-10 minutes.I'm super happy I found this part rather than having to replace the whole unit.

A perfect replacement
Davis improved this version of the anemometer. There is no longer openings to allow dirt and bugs into the housing. It is completely sealed and only takes a few minutes to install. This should last many years.

Simple to change
Takes longer to lower the mast than change the cartridge. New design is sealed at the top, less vulnerable to insects and grit. Immediate improvement in measuring low wind velocity and gusts. If you notice your anemometer is sticking or not turning in gentle breeze it's time to replace the cartridge.

Excellent
The anemometer on my Vantage Pro 2 wireless system failed. Rather than purchasing a new anemometer I purchased this Wind Bearing Cartridge instead. It took 15 minutes to replace the old cartridge on my anemometer and it has worked flawlessly ever since. I am completely satisfied with this product and highly recommend it for others who find themselves in similar circumstances. Please check that your anemometer is compatible with this unit before purchasing.

Check with Davis Instruments support for a free test cable that will help analyze your problem
This was quite easy to replace and solved the problem. After a phone call to Davis support group, they offered to send me a free test cable to determine if the problem was in the main circuit board of the rain collector or the roof wind unit. they then sent me a test cable free of charge. The test cable plugs into the "wind" connector of the main outside unit. Pushing the button rapidly on the end of the test cable should show a wind reading on the inside console display. If it does the problem is the outside unit and this should solve the problem. If no wind speed is displayed on the console the problem is probably in the main circuit within the outside rain collector. I replaced this bearing cartridge and just for safety the 12 year old 60 ft cable and the problem was solved. Overall, its a very simple process. I would contact Davis and get the test cable first as it makes it easy to determine where your problem actually is.

Great solution to my problem.
A simple and relatively inexpensive solution to aging bearings on the anemometer. Will probably last because it is sealed.

Repair it don’t replace
Windy Wyoming takes its toll on bearings. Quick simple repair. Less expensive than replacing I tire unit
