Great product!
My preschool class (4 year olds) got tadpoles this week, so we are incorporating frogs and tadpoles into everything we can! They love the little frogs and trying to balance the scale with all the different numbers! It was easy to put together, works well, is educational, and the kids love it!

Teaches math skills in a fun way!
I gifted this to my two 4 year old grandchildren for their birthdays. It is an excellent manipulative for learning math skills in many different ways. Grand-kids loved it! The only downsides are keeping track of all the small monkeys and fitting everything back into the box for storage neither of which deters me from highly recommending. One other note: we were a little confused at first when looking at the accompanying cards. Some have equations on one side with numbers on the back which we at first thought to be incorrect answers to the equation on opposite side. We figured out, however, that the two sides of the card are not related to each other and are color coded to help distinguish competency levels for player(s). The cards are not necessary for play but can be extremely helpful in learning number recognition. This is a game kids can play on their own or with others.

Great concept and fun but doesn't fit back in box
As a teacher myself, I love to buy games that are educational. This is a wonderful game to practice counting and math. my ONLY complaint (reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) is that once you put it together with the scales it doesn't fit back in the box without taking the scales off again and even then unless you take it all back apart (which is like 10 seconds) it won't fit back in the box. That part is annoying as a parent that likes to put things back where they belong and SHUT the box, haha! Overall, nice product...just needs a bigger box to be able to leave set up.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT - 5 stars for learning, but needs sturdier cards
Excellent product! My 5 year old is doing adding (and subtraction even though subtraction cards are not included) without realizing it. The green cards are level 1/simple difficulty and show the number and frogs needed to balance. The purple cards are level 2/medium difficulty and show either the amount of frogs OR an actual number and then you have find the number to balance yourself. The blue cards are level 3/complex difficulty and use the amount of frogs and numbers to do addition. The plastic numbers and frogs are really sturdy. The balance works really well but can fall over rather easily if used on a surface that's not completely hard, like carpet or a bed. I recently had surgery so we were using the product on a bed. It does still balance well on softer surfaces though. My only complaint about this product is that the cards are really thin and flimsy, so I imagine that they will get ripped or bent fairly quickly with a young child using them. That being said, I don't think the flimsy cards are a reason to not buy this product. It's fantastic for use in teaching math concepts. I do recommend laminating the cards or putting clear tape over them to reinforce them.

frog scale
I waited til towards the end of the year to buy this as I work with 2,3, and 4 year olds and they weren't ready til then to comprehend if you put the number 10 on one side of the scale you need 10 frogs on the other side to balance it out. Nor were they ready to put a 2 and a 3 on one side and therefore would need to put 5 frogs on the other side. But the day I brought it out, was a real eye opener for them and off to the races they went!!!! They not only loved it but were actually able to add number together and put the correct number of frogs to balance it out. I read other reviews that said it didn't balance correctly. Never had a problem with the balance and it was used non stop. Am looking into buying a few more as one for 17 kids is just not enough.

4yo nephew LOVED it!
I have a little nephew who loves holding little things in his hands, and is the type of kid to prefer a book over an RC car. This seemed like a perfect birthday gift idea to help him get his math skills down.He was a little confused at first, but caught on quick to how it works. I didn't expect it to be a favorite toy when compared to the other things he got, but the next day when we came downstairs, he had pulled out this game and was playing around with it on his own, balancing his monkeys.Though he got reeeaaalll confused when he put the big "1" and the "5" on one side, and didn't understand why 15 monkeys didn't balance the scale lol...Overall pretty good build quality, especially for the price. The scale bar is a little wobbly, but probably needed for proper balance. It's stood up to him putting it together and pulling it apart several times.I'd say the only thing that was a bummer was the packaging... For some reason the images on the sides of the box are mirrored, so the text is backwards. It's a minor thing, but does give off a feeling of cheapness, which you don't want when giving a gift.

Could be better
I had bought one of these for my oldest a few years ago (not from this seller), and now I have another child learning their numbers. This one isn't as good of quality as the one I previously bought. Everything works as it should, but there are a few things that just aren't quite up to par for me. The numbers are scratched like it's been used and they came with a white powder all over them. I'm assuming it's just from the plastic when making them, but I washed them all off to be safe. The monkey scales face is all scratched up. The cards are slightly thicker paper with a gloss finish. They are not durable for little hands. It was out of the box 10 minutes before several cards got bent up. There are 10 numbers and 19 monkeys. It'll work for now.
