So the Taste Test of the Century - What is the Difference, and Which is Best?!!
We are new to Maple syrup, or rather, my best half is! She loves the Taste The Difference variations of Maple syrup from the supermarkets - so I did some research and found out there were, roughly, 4 different types of Maple syrup - hence buying this set to "test" the difference! Here is what she said. She likes the golden one (the mildest) - this one very like the UK supermarkets versions. She also like the Amber one - "It's like golden Syrup!". BUT... the Dark variant she described as "like treacle" in a not very positive way (and obviously it does not have treacle's consistency - it is runny like the other types). As for the Very Dark.... errrrrrrrgggghhhhh, treacle errrrrggggghhhhh. She did not like it all. She said she thought the last two might be usable in making a cake "or something" - but clearly defo not in her mouth from a table spoon which is how she taste tested these. So this is a very unprofessional explanation from "noobies". She loves Maple Syrup, she says.... but there are now qualifications to this. Our supermarkets clearly know their customers - hence is getting variations of the Golden, lightest version." So....the results are in! 5 stars for Golden and Amber, 1 star for Dark, and minus 5 Stars for Very Dark!!!!!) Hope this helps someone who, like me, was wondering what all these variations and colours were really all about!
