As EW Says Here : " An Unexpected Favorite ! " For Me It Is A VERY Effective Knife.
UPDATE 10-26-23 :I like this knife so much I bought the plain edge version Wharncliffe after I received the serrated version (original serrated review is below). I like the serrated just fine / no problem there. I just wanted to add a comment about the steel in this knife (and the all important heat treat from this specific manufacture) . . . I was cutting open large cardboard equipment boxes , five feet long by over three feet tall, I was not cutting the cardboard (for that I find a dedicated box knife best) but I was cutting six heavy plastic bands with box tape over them and at the bottom where all the dust / dirt is (then the box is lifted off the base with a light crane) . . . well I was sure all that dirt and the reinforced bands were going to dull / ruin the edge on this basic steel ( I'm quite a super steel snob ) but to my surprise the plain edge in this particular 8Cr13MoV was hardly effected by the cuts and is still able to bite into the flat of my thumb nail, all along the whole edge, like it did when new out of it's box. I'm astonished !Yep this is one inexpensive knife I get along with JUST FINE !ORIGINAL REVIEW FOR SERRATED VERSION :I spend way too much on my knife hobby. Over a hundred Spydercos alone ; some of them full of "superness" (super handle material ( titanium ), super steel . . . (((super price))) . . .To set the stage : I'm NOT a fan of serrated blades (though I have, on occasion, succumbed to a weak moment. The Spyderco Yellow UKPK with LC200N is a pretty cool knife. As serrated knives go. Did I mention I don't go for serrated ? Much.Butwhen I saw this Wharncliffe Byrd Robin I could just feel it in my hand (in my imagination) before I got it. I have other Byrd knives so I had "a clue".I could just tell this was going to be the bee's knees for unpacking machinery at work ; cutting ropes and heavy tape etc. I could just feel how it was small and nimble and how that thin tip and serrations could get in there and take charge and overcoming the materials with ease. And I'm here to tell ya it SURE DOES !Better even than a Spyderco Matriarch that I bought recently for just this purpose.( ! ? ! Wow)This knife, though small, has a good full-thickness handle with superior grip texture including the "ridge" around the perimeter of the scales of the handle that I like so much. Effortless to hang onto. JUST PERFECT !I have several Spyderco Dragonflies that I affectionately refer to as "my little dragons" but for the unpacking I'm talking about here I would EVERY TIME reach for this particular Wharncliffe Byrd Robin with serrations.Fantastic knife !I prefer to use it with the overly long pocket clip taken off and I carry it in a pocket slip. Pocket slips, in this case, are useful to keep pocket lint out of the back lock. Even with a pocket clip I have had to dig lint out of my Little Dragons so they would safely lock up.What would I change on this knife ? Well . . . at a probable upcharge of three or four times the price I would put some M4 steel in the blade (not stainless but super edge holding and "to-die-for sharpening response"). ( I have zero interest in stainless steel (I just bought the LC200N UKPK because it is a cool knife)). I live in a high plains desert in the Wild Wild West, so no rust here (on my knives). The 8Cr13MoV blade alloy in this Byrd Robin is good enough, easy to sharpen and stainless enough for most everyone unless you spend time on a boat over salt water.Buy at least one of these even if you are a knife nerd/snob (like me). I think you will be impressed.PS: buy more than one because they are the PERFECT "you're-doing-a-good-job" gift for a coworker.

Hands down, best knives under $50. Outstanding value.
I have purchased a few of these. Hands down, they are the best ~$20-30 knife I have owned, and I've owned a bunch. Extremely sharp out if the box. Easy to open, nice pocket clip, great fit in the hand, no frills yet excellent fit/finish. For those complaining it's not made in USA or not really a Spyderco, duh - look at the price point. I've owned many Spyderco, Benchmade, etc and yeah they are great too, but they are also $50-100+ and it really hurts to lose one. At $25, I can lose it and not cry, or destroy it and buy another. Is it a lesser quality than a Spyderco or Benchmade, sure. Again, look at the price point. Spiderco set out to fill a market segment of "good", but not "outstanding" knives. I say they executed this flawlessly. Like any other tool, no one knife does it all. So, have your fancy $100+ knife, and have a few of these to use and abuse and not worry. If you keep in mind what you paid, you will be very pleased as I am. If you compare to models that cost 4x more, of course it will disappoint.

Awesome compact work knife.
It's relatively cheap, solidly built (for work), with excellent ergonomics. The spyderedge and wharncliffe blade pair together to make an extremely well cutting knife for the price, considering the budget grade of blade steel. I've tested it thus far on paper, cardboard, tape, and wood, all of which it handled admirably. It comes sharp enough to shave fingernails, cut hair, or easily cut thin magazine paper. Highly recommended, so long as you know what you're getting.

Best EDC for the price.
Have been carrying a clip-it for 30 years. This model is one of the most inexpensive offered and you cannot buy a more comfortable knife design to carry. It is super slim in pocket and easily deployed and closed one-handed.All spydercos can be sent to them and sharpened for only the 5 dollar shipping cost and the clips can be replaced for another 5 bucks. They will regrind tips and truly support their products like no one else. After 30 years of carry my clip broke off when I dropped it and I had it back within a week. The stainless used is so hard I found it couldn't be engraved . Engravers were shocked. BEST BUY EDC KNIFE for your dollar!!!

Thin is in!
This is the thinnest, toughest, pocket friendly, small (not tiny) lock blade I have ever owned and yes I would buy it again. Not the cheapest but if you carry and use a blade daily it's the best over all for the money.
