It's a St Croix
This is my 6th St Croix and most likely not my last. I bought the light action for crappies, which I have a Triumph already for that along with 2 light action Premier's, but I actually prefer the Triumph. The rod bends much more along the entire length instead of more toward the tip which makes fighting a fish more fun

Heads up -- Defective St Croix Product
On about the fifth cast with my new St Croix rod, the lure got snagged on a fast retrieve and "snap", the tip broke. I reported it to St Croix customer service and was informed there would be a $60 charge to submit a request for warranty consideration. I purchased a rod tip replacement kit and will attempt to get some use out of the busted rod.I've been fishing over 60 years and never had a rod tip break. Buyer beware, this is an expensive fishing rod and you can tell by other Amazon reports and images, that it is prone to be a defective product.

DO NOT ORDER FROM AMAZON - great rod
Amazon packed the rod by snapping it in two pieces. Many reviews have the same problem. The rod itself is great, but it looks like Amazon is not qualified to handle fishing rods.

Great rod
The fishing rod is everything the reviews said. Love this rod, has great action. Would recommend to buy

poor packaging
The fishing rod itself is decent, but there was no proper packaging—just a simple plastic bag. This left it completely unprotected during shipping, making it more likely to get damaged. Better packaging is definitely needed.

How to Not Break Your Rod.
I have the 5'6" ultra light pole. If you do not match your line and drag to your pole, it will break. It is the fishing line that breaks the pole, not a stump or a fish.If you go to St. Croix website it has a chart for what pound test line is appropriate for each pole. For mine it was 4 to 6 lb line. I opted for a 4 lb line. Then your have to set your drag to 1/2 that or less which for me was a 2 lb drag. Then instead of breaking -- the drag releases.Braided line? Your pole will break. Fishing for bass with a pole rated for 4 lb test? Your pole will break. Using 20 lb line with a 10 lbs of drag? Your pole will break. While its simple math, this much may be true: you may not be smart enough to know better. For the small ultra light use 4 lb line and a 2 lb drag. There are hand held scales on Amazon you can use.
