The Wood Checkers w/ Stackable Ridge - Dark Brown/Natural costs less than comparable products, have the right weight and feel for checkers, and above all, they stack neatly with a wooden ridge.The wooden checkers are made of quality material (cherry wood, perhaps?) that emit a nice smell when first opened from the well-packaged cloth bag that the checkers arrive in. Perhaps I was fortunate, but the smell of the wooden checkers was a nice indication that the people who packaged the checkers prior to shipping added a nice touch to their product, reminiscent of fresh cherry blossoms.Family played a game of checkers for the first time together in over 40 years last week. The game was both challenging and evoked memories of strategy games we played as kids. This is one game we actually enjoyed together, contrasted with the usual competitive spirit fostered with other games. The Wood Checkers w/ Stackable Ridge - Dark Brown/Natural game was fun, helped foster critical thinking by helping the players foresee what circumstances would occur by their present actions, is durable, and was given a 5✩ rating overall because eventually when we grow older, the Wood Checkers w/ Stackable Ridge - Dark Brown/Natural will travel with us to a retirement home where we can sharpen our older minds with a both fun and challenging, simple and humble game of checkers.

I have an heirloom wooden checkerboard that I used with my son when he was a child and now use with my 5 year old granddaughter to teach her how to play. They old wooden checkers had disappeared and I needed to replace them. Received order quickly, they are decently made and durable and the dark brown and tan finishes match our old checker perfectly. My granddaughter loves them and the game…and doubles stack together nicely when she gets kinged!

I ordered these checkers to accompany a chess set so that we could play either game on the board. The checkers are about an inch in diameter, which I was afraid would be too small for the board. While they are smaller than the plastic checkers I grew up with they work fine with the chess board we bought. The checkers themselves are well made. I had no chipped ones, nor were there any poor finishes. They are also stackable which was a feature I was searching for. They do not "lock" together like the ridged plastic ones from my youth but stack in such a way that they are serviceable for a typical game. You will have to pick up both checkers to perform jumps with stacked kings. Overall this set suits my purposes and I am happy to have matching wooden checkers to go with the wooden chess set. Would buy again.

I needed pieces for my board i made. Look and fit great!

I bought these to go with a wooden chess set and they are great. They have a great almost flawless if not so design in the center and the whole piece is smooth and coated with some type of wood sealant or what ever you call the junk, but it still looks fairly natural without being too shiny and still keeping the general color of wood. Great over all. Also comes with a pretty good pouch that could hold about 2-4 more sets of these pieces. I would probably order two the next time I order and keep all in one bag and maybe use the other bag for chess pieces to go along with the checkers.The only real issue seems to be that when stacking the checkers pieces the indent on the bottom on many occasions is not deep enough to hook onto the top or sit without falling off the other when pushed. Some do but not all pieces. This can be addressed by switching the two pieces you are trying to stack with one another because one is probably deeper than the other. It is just far too subtle to be useful. I like the pieces though so it does not bother me, but I wish this part was better, but it is not so bad as to ruin the product by no means.

I guess this is a case of you get what you paid for. These are just cheap checkers pieces, they work, but they are not quality products. The 1.125" pieces are not round! So in one direction they MIGHT be the 1.125" as noted. But in the opposite direction they are about 1". There is enough "tolerance" with the ridge that they all do still stack. Not quite sure of all the "high praise" reviews, maybe different times from different sources. Also, note...These are NOT returnable/refundable! That alone should tell you all you need to know about the quality.

Super cute with a rustic wood board game. Very happy with this purchase.
