Can the smoke extractor be removed from the pencil for comfortable soldering without the bulk? And how long is the pencil cord?

The range on the soldering iron is 200C-480C (392F-896F), so it should be suitable for smaller devices for which you would use a 15 watt pencil iron. Just double check to make sure the temperature your pencil iron operates at is within that range and you should be good to go.

Is the part pickup tool the same as the smoke absorber? And is the absorber detachable?

Please provide more explanation in your first question, if you mean that if they have the same suction channel the answer is yes, you have to detach the absorber in order to put the pickup tool into the suction channel. For the second question, the absorber is NOT detachable from the soldering iron.

Is there a way to change the temp readings from C to F?

I don't think so. Looking through the manual I don't see any way to change the temperature.Since all the component data sheets have the temperature profile in Celsius, I generally don't find the need for Fahrenheit.
