If you only find one really great sound you can make on here, you know it's been value for money
I’m planning to go back to playing live after having a few months break recently, and decided that as I had a very low budget I’d scout around for some cheaper items. For 20 years I’ve been using single unit processors but thought I would add a few pedals to it. I needed more distortion, and this pedal is all about that. It’s well worth checking YouTube to hear this pedal to get an idea, and I figured at the price if I found one new sound, then it was worth the money. I got what I wanted.I’d primarily been looking to get a sound with a really palm muted chug to it for mainly rhythm work. Having the low on the EQ brings the bottom end brilliantly, and the high brings the bite. As in some of the tutorials, I agree – the Mid frequency dial on the top row isn’t much good; just brings a weird squelch and I found it was just the other 3 I needed. The DIST I had a 2 o’clock, and the LEVEL the same and I got my sound. I’ll trying mixing something from other pedals later. The unit itself is sturdier than I thought it would be for plastic – I think everyone panicked that it wasn’t made of metal, it’s strong enough. Worth the money, and it was silent on the bypass which was good.I’m a big fan of Sex Pistol’s/Steve Jones’ sound and this was nearly achievable – I’ll just add a little something from the Behringer FX600 Digital Multi-Effects Pedal I have coming at the weekend to finish that off.

Better than an MT2
This sounds better than my MT2 it is based on!

Excellent value !
I was quite apprehensive about ordering this pedal as it's £22 in reflection to prices of decent boss pedals and vox etc I thought I'd give this a try as I wanted something compact, this cuts the mustard 100% plenty of different levels you can mess with for different tones, the pedal is weighty considering it's compact size as per picture so it's well built inside by the feel of it, running off a battery atm well and getting a power lead for more stability during performance etc but I will definitely recommend and buy more of myself behrengher pedals

Metallica in a small pink box!
Instant Metallica! Just add 14 year old guitarist.Behringer's clone of the infamous Boss Metal Zone.Near flawless clone of the original. Near identical sound from both and all the knobs are there.I owned an original Metal Zone, way back, and gave it to a young lad who had some lessons from me. Off he went inspired by this wee pedal. Job done.Fast forward 10 -15 years and I've only gone and done it again only much cheaper!I've now bought two of these as I gave the first one to a friend of my son's who is learning guitar and focusing on Metallica tunes. Unfortunately he didn't really have the gear to replicate that tone. Not anymore he doesn't.He's blazing away on this thing and quite frankly, so am I.Unbelievably priced at £20. It cost 5 and a half times that for a real MT-2!It seems churlish to mention the build quality of a £20 pedal. Seems durable enough. Just don't abuse it and you'll be fine.Essential purchase for any metal guitarist.

Absolutely amazing!!!
Having just got into playing metal guitar (after playing in general for seven years) and finding out I needed a distortion pedal I had no idea what to expect. Someone else had said this pedal wasn't good but I took a chance and it's been so worth it! It's so easy to use (although you do have to buy a mono jack cable to connect to the amp and a 9v plug for it) and it sounds incredible! With just a few tweaks of the distortion dial the guitar riff sounds so gritty and raw - I only had to put it to less than halfway to get it sounding spot on Marilyn Manson worthy, so I don't doubt it's got potential for heavier stuff. I would definitely recommend, it's good value for money too. Can't go wrong.

Read for reviews on all types of pedals
Firstly, I'm not allowed to review each "variant" of this product so I have to group them all together in one review.Ultra Metal Pedal - 5 STARS. Excellent sounding pedal with lots of control parameters. Sounds really good and it's easy to recreate a really tight, chuggy Metallica sound. For the prive it's an absolute bargain and I'm in no doubt it rivals lots of other big branded pedals that are 5 times the price. The other overdrive/distortion pedals from Behringer are equally as good.Compressor/Limiter Pedal - 1 STAR. Absolutely terrible. I tried fiddling with all of the settings but could not get a decent sound out of it. There was no distinguishable compressor effect, all it did was add some unwanted gain to my sound and the level of buzz in the background was absolutely crazy. Avoid.Ultra Octaver - 1 STAR. Again, a terrible attempt at producing an Ocatve divider pedal. You can choose to step it down 1 or 2 octaves, but there is no option to step it up an octave. I mainly wanted this to use as a bass simulator i.e. to play my guitar and for the sound to come out an octave lower. It couldn't even do that. It could not cope with simple one note tunes, and when you thought you were getting an octave lower it would suddenly lose the affect altogether. Avoid.Such a shame, as the Behringers produce great distortion/overdrive pedals but simply cannot cope with any modulation like choris/tremelo etc.
