The Mortal Instruments: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1

Graphics are great in this very japanese manga style and I loved it. Just the right amount put into this to understand what's going on as well.

Loved this series since I was a kid, just had to by the novel! The art style is amazing and there's even scenes in here that aren't in the original books! Definitely worth the buy if your a shadow hunters fan :)

I like this so much more than the book. Dispite the anime style which seems strange given the book is American, this medium was much better because in my opinion the book just isn’t well written. I do think she got better as a writer later (I enjoyed the infernal devices) but this novel... I read it and totally forgot until the show was coming out and I was wondering why I’d never read those books, I went to buy it and found out I had purchased in a couple years ago and read it and blocked it out! But as I said it works much better in graphic novel format.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel which centers around the first book when Clary learns she's been hiding from the Shadowhunter with her Mom as there is a dangerous person after them.To say it's a culture shock is putting it mildly and when her Mom is kidnapped, she finds herself at a loss in how to find her and Herschel from a mysterious guy named Jace who also happens to be a Shadowhunter.This was a quick refresher on the first half of the first book and I'm looking forward to continuing the series soon.

I’m pretty new to the graphic novel genre, but I figured an adaptation of one of my favorite fantasy series couldn’t possibly miss the mark. It’s entirely possible that I just need to be exposed to more graphic novels, so take my opinion on this one with a grain of salt, but I found this one difficult to read, and definitely won’t be continuing the series.

I bought this book to donate to my school library. There is a large collection of of graphic novels suitable for 8th and 9th graders. We have all the Shadowhunter novels on the shelf but the library media specialist didn't know about the graphic novels. They were so excited to receive all 5 that have been published so far.

It feels like you're reading the book every thing that happens in the book happens in the graphic novel they don't cut corners to fix more of the story in the novel
