Works for me @work
I'm a custodian at the student union of a state university, being on my feet 8+ hours a day, with my feet exposed to all forms of water, cleaning chemicals, food service grease/oil, and mileage up/down/around four floors of the building. My Cat Threshold brown boots gave me rugged and waterproof stability to get my work done for nearly 3.5 years until ... I accidentally scraped the left boot along a sharp metal edge of a floor machine and sliced the leather open. So I had to order a new pair, this time black. Before Cat, I had tried to work in other shoes and boots that literally fell apart after a few months of exposure to my workaday world. So I thank Cat for bootwear that durably and comfortably fits my feet and workload for the long run.

Very nice - just a few issues
I love these very comfortable and relatively light weight boots. I bought the wide version so I can fit my inserts inside. However, there are two issues to report. First, there is a raw seam inside the back of the heal. It is not padded and was an immediate rubbing problem. I solved it by spray-gluing a foam sheet pad inside. (See orange bit in photo). You can get the foam sheet cheap at a craft store. Problem easily solved. Wish it had come padded to begin with.Second, the sole heal began to disintegrate after just 3 weeks. I should note that I was in a very rugged and rocky camping environment. Maybe if you just wear them on a normal floor or job site, it might not be an issue. The heal takes the most abuse and should have been molded solid. It is a design flaw to have cuts molded into the heal. Once it started breaking, the crevice kept getting leaves and twigs stuck in it. I will try Shoo-Goo to repair it, but I know from experience that it won't last.I love these boots and these small issues will not make me return them, I just wish the designers had put a tiny bit more thought into them.

About a month ago I got the Cat Men's Waterproof Work Boots, and they are impressive. These are my thoughts:1. WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT?- These boots are well-made, sturdy, and designed to last. The materials feel and are premium as expected from Caterpillar. The design and colors are super nice, too, as these boots look good on and off the job site.2. HOW DOES THIS PRODUCT PERFORM?- They are completely waterproof and keep my feet dry. Compared to what I had, some boots from Walmart with steel toe, these boots provide great support, and the comfort level is through the roof. They are really lightweight, making long days in them just fly-by. Cleaning is easy, just wipe them with the wet cloth and that's it.3. IS THE PRODUCT EASY TO USE?- It is extremely easy to put them on. Slip them on, lace them up, and you're good to go.4. IS THE PRODUCT A GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY?- How much you value your feet? I paid $70.00 - if they last a year, and I wear them every day, that's $0.19 per day. If they last longer, do the math. And these boots can go a long mile. Considering the quality, performance, and how good they look, these boots are worth every penny.5. WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO YOU?- Absolutely! If you are like me and looking for a reliable, comfortable, and stylish work boot from a well established brand, the Cat Footwear Men's Threshold is a great choice.

CAT Threshold Work Boot -- initial impression is excellent!
I typically wear 10.5 wide and ordered CAT Threshold Work Boot in that size. I am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable these are immediately. Some break-in of boots like these to get them feeling good a would be understandable, but these don't seem to need it. They are a little tighter in all the right spots and a little looser in all the right spots--the fit just feels right, standing and walking. Really nice!Time will be the true test, but these look to be well-made as well. Nothing about their construction stands out to me as problematic. If they do hold up well, and the fit stays good also, I would say these are high quality and a bargain for the price. Kudos to CAT for actually delivering quality and value to consumers with this boot! Examples of that are harder and harder to find... Based on initial impressions I highly recommend.

What a disappointment these have been
When I bought these shoes I was replacing a pair of Carhartt boots that I had worn out after several years of almost constant wear. Whether it was yard work, gardening, taking walks, even going to the casino, those were my shoes of choice. When I went to replace them I found that they were no longer available. When I got these, they were very comfortable and I had hope that they'd be a good replacement. The first issue I had with them were that they have fine grooves in the tread that almost defy cleaning. You won't get them clean with simply wiping them on a mat like the previous boots. But let them dry then walk through the house and you will find a trail of dirt behind you! Then, as I was cutting the grass a couple of days ago, I walked through an area of the yard that was a bit swampy from all of the recent rain I felt my foot get slightly wet. After I finished the job. I put the boots in a tub with a slight amount of water in it so I could thoroughly clean the soles. When I went to clean them, the inside of the one boot was definitely wet while the other was dry. So much for waterproof.I have only owned these for about 7 months. I'm retired and at 74 I definitely am not putting them through the stresses of someone working in any of the building trades. These boots have been a disappointment and were replaced with something that I HOPE will last a lot longer.
