Use under supervision as burn hazard but better than open bowls of boiling water.
I am an old nurse and remember using these in hospital in the 80’s so it brought back happy memories. Brilliant for my daughters voice before singing and hubbys congested throat, it targets without the risk of using bowls of boiling water.

Bought for someone’s else
I believe it’s doing the job. I was asked to purchase it for a friend in the States as it was unavailable on the .com site. I did open it when it arrived and it looked fine. A ceramic base with the necessary attachment.

I think it works?
Have purchases a couple of these in the past. I believe it has helped with my throat, but I am not entirely sure. It is just difficult to tell due to what my career is like. I am a presenter and I go on and off stage on a daily basis for 5 hours a night so you can imagine how much in can strain the voice. It's a tough material, much like a teapot. Don't hold onto it while using it or it may burn you can you may drop it.

500ml Steamer. So far, so great
Recieved the Steamer much fast than anticipated which was great, many thanks ! It's incrediblynice to use. I've used it a few times, for me it will not replace my steaming over a bowl with a towel, as I have particularly bad sinus issues. However, I would not be without it either! The steam I feel with this reaches further into my throat and chest which is great and I love the convenience of this.Usually I steam with a bowl and a towel every day, somedays twice or three times ! It is very essential for me but it is very annoying having to have my face dripping wet everytime after, I don't like drying out my skin that much, and it's annoying if I have makeup on.I will still have to steam in the am over a bowl, BUT... I will not have to do the bowl and towel throughout the day if I'm particularly bad. I will now be able to use the inhaler and get a really deep steam without drying out my face and removing my makeup.I got this to help with respiratory infections but I also wanted it for the benefits of the steam reaching my vocal chords. If you are using it for that I hear to be careful not to sing 20-30mins after you steam.Fantastic Steamer, thinking of getting the smaller size as a travel companion and back up. (Steaming is very important to me...)

Brilliant
My speech therapist told me to inhale steam twice a day. I can see me having to do this for life. I tried the bowl and towel method but would often end with a headache. And it was an effort to get organised. This is so simple. I fill it with boiling water before I eat. By the time I’ve finished and want to just relax for a while, whilst digesting the meal, the water is the correct heat and I can inhale the steam in a relaxed way. This is important as I expect to have to do this for years to come.I am grateful to have found this item.

It works.
Recommended by singing teacher for catarrhal vocal chords. Helps clear them. Also improves speaking voice. Use with plain water twice a day. Need to treat it carefully as a bit delicate. Otherwise fine. Thought it was good

Too bulky and not enough instructions!!!!
I was advised to use this inhaler and although the price is very steep, as I have a lot of throat and nose problems I decided to give it a try, although I have a cheap, electric one. I am not overly happy because of there are no instructions and although there is quite a bit of information on this page I still had to phone the vendor (bear in mind they are not the manufacturers, so the lady also doesn't know much about the device), the 500ml is awfully bulky, not at all suitable for a singer to take around but I only bought it because, with the tube, the 250ml was almost the same price (they probably think that most people will buy the 250ml one anyway, so they will just make more money on it, but it is ridiculously expensive compared to the 500ml one). I have used it once but although I left the tube all night to dry it is still wet and will be creating all kinds of bacteria............................ I thought that this would be a world class device, with a world class customer service but it is not, for this price.................................... one wonders! It is pretty though... The size is more like 17cm x 40cm, so the person who measured it in the questions must have measured the small one. Too bad the jars don't have the contents marked on them because first I thought that I might have received the 1000ml one, and not the 500ml.
