Q: Does the software need to be used and open all the time, or can i just plug in and set mouse buttons in game?

I would think you'd need the software open, it stores setting such as the general mouse DPI, the profiles, keybindings and so forth. Without it open a lot of the side buttons just won't work and you won't be able to change the DPI with a button press if you need to be more accurate or faster on the fly. It is pretty awful software I'll admit though. It makes things a lot harder than they need to be. However once things are set up it's fine. It can just be on your tray, the window itself doesn't have to be open, it can just run in the background.

Q: Is this one the updated version that works with icue v4 ? i have the old scimitar that still works but only in icue v3*

Mine started with IQUE 3 but recently upgraded to IQUE 4 without issue .If that helps .

Q: How does the wheel compare to the scimitar rgb pro's? as most know, the rgb pro wheel will end up breaking.
