Yes, you can put the handles on after bolting the riser to the toilet, but it's tricky. I have two issues with this unit. The handles are too close together, making it difficult to spread your legs. Good thing I used a bidet toilet seat. I'm also worried about the metal bolts. Last time I used a seat riser the metal bolts corroded, and it was nearly impossible to remove the seat. Plan on removing the seat (or at least unbolting it) after a couple of months.

Nice height. After you put your toilet seat on, its comfortable. Seems sturdy so far.

This senior toilet seat is excellent the handles are very sturdy and safe for my mother she’s short and is no so tall that she cannot get up to it putting in on was very easy too

I could not adapt my seat and cover to the raised seat, bought an additional seat and cover kit and again would not work, used hardware supplied and could not make it stable to sit on without it moving when tried to sit on. Had to return it due to would not fit my needs whereas having a hip replacement soon and could not take the chance of twisting. Raised elongated seat extension was a high quality item but unable to adapt my existing Toto cover to work satisfactory or a Bemis cover i purchased

This item is just what it says--elongated seat. Easy to install. I did not need extra bolts as some reviews noted. I did put a small piece of rubber between this seat and the toilet where the bolts go through just to make sure it will not slide. It is nice that your original seat will probably fit on top of this seat to make it a little higher and more comfortable, and can close when not in use. It is very sturdy. Purchased another brand with legs last year, but it was very uncomfortable and was not elongated as it stated. It would fit an elongated toilet, but the opening was small and round.The package arrived when it said it would and was in good condition.
