So much better than a Bria-type pitcher but not $$$ like many countertop systems
When the water dispenser on our refrigerator broke, I started searching for a filtration system that would suit my requirements. I immediately learned pitcher type water filters are certainly inexpensive but basically make the water taste and look good while removing a few impurities (which often leech back into the water). I wanted to have a much more robust filtering system that met higher requirements. There was a huge jump in price from pitchers at $30 or 40 dollars to a several hundred dollar investment which would require plumbing, etc. So the Aquasana was a rare middle-of-the-road solution. I have to admit that I really wanted/needed to like this system; the good news is that it has not been an effort to do so.After choosing Aquasana I had to decided whether I wanted the dispenser or pitcher type. I wanted a constant supply of filtered water, not what would fit in the pitcher. Also, it was not important to me that the water be chilled; I was fine with room temperature water over ice. Now that I own the unit, I am extremely happy I made that choice. The potential problems with this entire set-up are the result of removing the tank or pitcher from the unit and replacing it. I have had my unit for several months and have only separated the two pieces once, when replacing the filter. Otherwise, my tank stays put on the dispenser and is refilled via a regular pitcher and a funnel. It can be refilled as often as I like and there is no opportunity for leaks. As long as you put water in, there will always be available filtered water. In other words the dispenser works just as well for one person or a family of eight.I didn't understand what the reviewers meant when they talked about the loud noise. The only time you hear a noise at all is when you push the button to dispense water into your glass. It might last a whopping 15 - 20 seconds and is obviously the sound of a pump forcing the water through the filter. It is not a jolting noise which suddenly occurs with no warning; you are the one controlling it.Replacing the filter does involve removing the dispenser from the base unit; therefore, there probably will be some leakage which I anticipated. I moved my entire unit over to as near the sink as I could so any escaping water wouldn't be a problem. After I finished replacing the filter (a breeze to do), I carefully reseated the dispenser in the "socket" and made sure it was properly aligned. Then I moved the entire unit back to its normal place on the kitchen counter and refilled the dispenser.A blinking red light comes on to alert you the filter will be out soon; when it changes to constant red, it is time to change it out. Depending on use, there will be a few days in between. You will reset the alert by pressing a reset button - very intuitive. This system can be monitored on a Smart Phone though I cannot imagine how it would be necessary - perhaps fun!

Drinking water and coffee taste great!
I bought the Aquasana Powered Water Filtration System from Costco and formerly used Aquasana's auto-ship for the replacement filters. When I saw that I could do the same through Amazon and I switched to using the subscription service so my purchase add to points on Amazon Prime credit card. Now for the filter, I go through 2 pitchers a day (the 8-cup on that fits in my refrigerator door) and this lasts six months. At first when the filter indicator light turned a solid red before the six months were up, I thought, "Well that sucks, this doesn't last for six months after all." I was wrong. After reading the instructions again, when the light is solid red, it means the filter is at 90% capacity; it's when the light starts to blink red that you need to replace it because that means it's at 100% capacity.By the way, I've read reviews of the system where users have had issue with horrible leaks. My system worked fine for the first month and then one day I did get the dreaded leak of water all over my counter and floor. I was trying to think of why this was happening and then realized when I removed the larger 16-cup dispenser to put refill the 8-cup pitcher, I was sliding the pitcher in -- that's what causes the leaking issue.Since then, rather than sliding the dispense or pitching in, I tip the lip of the dispenser or pitcher is tipped down as I put it under the opening of where the water comes out of the filtration dock. That way, I'm placing the dispenser or pitcher down onto the circular valve at the base of the dock instead of sliding it over the valve. This doesn't stop small water drops when I remove the dispenser or pitcher, but it has stopped the issue with massive leaks when filtering water, so I no longer have to stand and watch to make sure the water isn't leaking all over the counter. I can do more important stuff like couch potato "exercising".

It's about delivery time
These fit my older aquasanna. If you need the filter soon .it will arrive sooner than Aquasanna can get it to you. Our water is very hard so they only last about 2.5 to 3 months each. And price is the same from aquasanna.
