A little back story, I bake every day— it’s a very fun hobby of mine and I’m constantly working with Vanilla (Madagascar, Mexican, etc). I figured I’d buy a bigger bottle since I just ran out, and 64oz for the price point I saw at the time prior to purchase was just far too big of a steal to ignore. Anyways, I was in a pinch to make shortbreads at the time of this product’s delivery & as usual, I smelled the vanilla before I added it to my batter— and the smell immediately threw me off. I initially ignored it though because (again), I was in a pinch and didn’t have any other option but to use it. I can’t really tell you what exactly I smell here but it’s a combination of vanilla and some faint scent of a commercial cleaning product. It could be entirely my own judgement on the smell, but that’s not even my biggest concern. My biggest concern is that there’s not a single drop of ethanol in this “Pure Vanilla Extract”. Despite the labeling, there’s absolutely nothing close to ethanol/alcohol in this bottle— to even be classified as pure vanilla extract it needs to have ethanol; I made the painful decision to down $30 worth of vanilla down the drain the next day, I will not be feeding it to anyone else. To top it off, there seems to be no refund option. I wasn’t expecting to make a return on an opened bottle of Vanilla for food safety purposes, but at least my $30 back? With that money I could just use it to buy ACTUAL pure vanilla extract— the expensive ones I was already buying before I decided to cut corners for cheaper. I guess I learned my lesson, lol.P.S. make sure to always look at 5-star ratings before making a purchase. I failed to notice this product was sitting at a 70% 5-star average— how do you mess up Vanilla THAT bad to get such feedback?

We bought vanilla at a local store in Huatulco, Mexico a number of years ago and were amazed at the superior flavor and quality. Bought it again when we went back a couple of years ago because it is so much better than Watkins, McCormick and domestics. This vanilla is so close to the Huatulco product.

I am FLABBERGASTED at any negative comment or review made on this product. This is the ONLY vanilla I have used for the past 7 years in all of my baking. Great value. GREAT vanilla. YES it’s different than what you’ll buy in the store but it’s better by a long shot. I’ve read lacking flavor, get your mouth checked cause this is POTENT extra vanilla. It has a beautiful flavor that take ANY baking to the next level. Everything I’ve ever baked from this is amazing and I get compliments. People can tell there’s something different but it’s BETTER not worse. I’ve read watery vanilla? What does that even mean I think it’s perfectly normal consistency. It’s worth the value. I read someone else’s review that they dumped it down the drain!! Absolutely insane and wrong.
